WATCH: Asa Hutchinson does not plan to endorse Trump, says he won't support 'a convicted felon'
Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson said he still has concerns about former President Donald Trump’s qualifications to lead the country, citing his demeanor and his denial of the results of the 2020 election.
“I'm not endorsing him. I don't expect to vote for him. I’ve said I'm not going to support somebody who’s a convicted felon,” Hutchinson told the PBS News Hour’s Amna Nawaz at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee Thursday.
But Hutchinson also said he wouldn’t support President Joe Biden in November, saying the president “has not been a strong leader.”
Thursday is the final night of the Republican convention, an evening focused on making “America great once again” and Trump’s first speech as party nominee.

Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, a Republican who is not supporting former President Donald Trump in the election, says Ohio Sen. JD Vance is in a prime position to "double down" on the MAGA movement as the Republican Party's vice presidential nominee.
"I think you'll see him turn to an attack dog mentality," Hutchinson told PBS News Hour's Geoff Bennett at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Thursday. "He is just firm as can be and intellectually supportive of a more isolationist United States of America, and that's not the Republican Party that has robust leadership. I want our party to be the pro-America party and not the pro-Putin party."
