Edward Davis "Ed" Wood, Jr. (October 10, 1924– December 10, 1978) was an American filmmaker, actor, and author.
In the 1950s, Wood made a number of low-budget films in the science fiction, comedy, and horror genres, intercutting stock footage. In the 1960s and 1970s, he made sexploitation movies and wrote over 80 pulp crime, horror and sex novels. In 1980, he was posthumously awarded a Golden Turkey Award as Worst Director of All Time, renewing public interest in his work. Wood's career and camp approach has earned him and his films a cult following.
Following the publication of Rudolph Grey's 1992 oral biography Nightmare of Ecstasy: The Life and Art of Edward D. Wood, Jr., Wood's life and work have undergone a public rehabilitation of sorts, leading up to director Tim Burton's biopic of Wood's life, Ed Wood (1994), a critically acclaimed film starring Johnny Depp as Wood that earned two Academy Awards.
Early years
Wood's father, Edward Sr., worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a custodian, and his family relocated numerous times around the United States. Eventually, they settled in Poughkeepsie, New York, where Ed Wood, Jr. was born in 1924. According to Wood's second wife, Kathy O'Hara, Wood's mother Lillian would dress him in girl's clothing when he was a child because she had always wanted a daughter. For the rest of his life, Wood was a heterosexualcrossdresser, infatuated with the feel of angora on his skin.
The Chinese ElmcultivarUlmus parvifolia 'Ed Wood' is intended for bonsai, or even model train set landscaping. It is however reputedly hardy to −23°C (−10°F).
Description

Career
In 1987 he became a mechanic working on F1 motorcycles, Superbikes and MotoGP until 1990 when he went on to the TWR Jaguar Group C and Le Mans cars for one year. After picking up his two degrees he became a R&D Engineer for Ferrari till 2000 where he went to Renault F1 as the Senior Development Engineer. In 2003 he became Chief Designer for Prodrive until joining Williams as Chief Designer in March 2006. His role is to co-ordinate the design process of the team's car.
Armageddon is a Scottishbeer introduced on 3 November 2012. Ingredients include crystal malt, wheat, flaked oats and Scottish spring water. It is labelled as the world's 2nd strongest beer as of October 2013, after Brewmeister's Snake Venom was released, with an ABV rating of 65%.
Armageddon is the third studio album and fourth album overall by Canadianrock band Prism. It was released in 1979 on Canadian record label GRT. It achieved double platinum status in Canada (in excess of 200,000 units sold).
Armageddon is notable for several reasons. Bruce Fairbairn received the Canadian music industry 1980 Juno Award for Producer of the Year for the album. Band leader and guitarist-songwriter Lindsay Mitchell received the SOCAN Song of the Year award for "Night to Remember". It is the band's best selling album. Despite all the commercial success, the band's record label, GRT Records, filed for bankruptcy in the same year of the album's release. The album is also notable for the songwriting contributions by Bryan Adams.
Background
Armageddon was crucial in Prism's commercial development. The band had already released two successful albums, both reaching platinum status in Canada (100,000+ units sold.) But they had yet to break into the US in a significant way and were only an opening act on the Canadian arena rock tour. Armageddon was expected to be their breakout album, elevating the band to international success and a concert headline act. The first and biggest obstacle the band faced was a lack of songwriting within the lineup. Jim Vallance, under the pseudonym "Rodney Higgs", was the original and principal songwriter for Prism. But after the first album, he withdrew from the band and only provided token contributions. The role of principal songwriter was then left to Lindsay Mitchell. Although a capable songwriter, he could not match the quantity of material written by Vallance. This in turn forced the band to go outside the lineup for new material.
The event grossed over $423,500 in ticket sales from an attendance of 8,200. Canadian Online Explorer's professional wrestling section rated the WWE Tag Team Championship match a nine out of ten stars, the highest match rating. The event was released on DVD on January 16, 2007 by Sony Music Entertainment. The DVD reached second on Billboard's DVD Sales Chart for recreational sports during the week of February 18, 2007, and it dropped to the tenth spot the following week.

For years, the film played on television in relative obscurity, until 1980, when author Michael Medved dubbed Plan 9 from Outer Space the "worst movie ever made". Wood was posthumously awarded Medved's Golden Turkey Award as the worst director ever.

In California, an old man (Bela Lugosi) grieves the loss of his wife (Vampira) and on the next day he also dies. However, the space soldier Eros and her mate Tanna use an electric device to resurrect them both and the strong Inspector Clay (Tor Johnson) that was murdered by the couple. Their intention is not to conquer Earth but to stop mankind from developing the powerful bomb "Solobonite" that would threaten the universe. When the population of Hollywood and Washington DC sees flying saucers on the sky, a colonel, a police lieutenant, a commercial pilot, his wife and a policeman try to stop the aliens.

Johnny Depp in yet another cult movie, depicting the mostly true story of the legendary director of awful movies and his strange group of friends and actors.
Starring: Johnny Depp, Patricia Arquette, Martin Landau, Sarah Jessica Parker

We do a compare/contrast to the scenes from director Ed Wood's original films Glen or Glenda, Bride of the Monster, and Plan 9 From Outer Space to the recreated ones shot for director Tim Burton's film Ed Wood! See the uncanny similarities and attention to detail from two of Hollywood's most notorious filmmakers.
One of my favorite moments from Ed Wood (1995) Dir. Tim Burton, from the exceptional script by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski that should have also won an Oscar. Ed Wood is played by Johnny Depp, Dolores Fuller is played by Sarah Jessica Parker, and Bela Lugosi is played by Martin Landau, who won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance.
Ed Wood: Boy Mr. Legosi, you must lead such an exciting life. When is your next picture coming out?
Bela Lugosi: I have no next picture.
Ed Wood: You gotta be joking! A great star like you, you must have dozens of them lined up!
Bela Lugosi: Back in the old days, yes. But now, no one gives two fucks for Bela.

A retrospect of Ed Wood's strange stint in filmmaking as the "worst director of all time."

Night of the Ghouls is a horror film written and directed by Ed Wood. The film features some reoccuring cast members and characters from Bride of the Monster, including Tor Johnson reprising his role of Lobo and Paul Marco again playing the character of Kelton, while the Amazing Criswell plays himself in the frame story of the film. Another returning character is Police Captain Robbins of Homicide, although the character is played by Harvey B. Dunn in Bride, and by Johnny Carpenter in Night. (Dunn however does appear in Night, albeit playing a different character).
Night of the Ghouls was never released theatrically nor shown on television, and was thought for years to be a lost film. It was finally released direct to video by Wade Williams in 1984
Plan 9 from Outer Space is celebrating it's 60th Anniversary, so we decided to do a review! It's also the one year anniversary of Rental Reviews, so we went back to our original four person style. Plan 9 is Ed Wood's most popular film from 1959, that most people consider the worst movie ever made.

Jonathan Ross presents a documentary on the film-maker Edward D Wood Jr for his TV series Son of the Incredibly Strange Film Show, shown in the UK in 1989
Edward Davis "Ed" Wood, Jr.

Plan 9 from Outer Space (originally titled as Grave Robbers from Outer Space) is a 1959 science fiction/horror film written and directed by Edward D. Wood, Jr. The film features Gregory Walcott, Mona McKinnon, Tor Johnson and Maila "Vampira" Nurmi. The film bills Béla Lugosi posthumously as a star, although footage of the actor had been shot by Wood for another film just before Lugosi's death in 1956.
The plot of the film is focused on extraterrestrial beings who are seeking to stop humans from creating a doomsday weapon that would destroy the universe. In the course of doing so, the aliens implement "Plan 9", a scheme to resurrect Earth's dead as what modern audiences would consider zombies (called "ghouls" in the film itself) to get the planet's attention, causing chaos.
For years, the film played on television in relative obscurity, until 1980, when author Michael Medved dubbed Plan 9 from Outer Space the "worst movie ever made". Wood was posthumously awarded Medved's Golden Turkey Award as the worst director ever.
This is the original version of Glen or Glenda by one of the most misunderstood directors in Hollywood History. It was highly controversial for the time period it was filmed and released in. The Video begins with the Official Trailer followed by the Full Film.
