After Maysville, AR 43 runs along the Oklahoma state line concurrent with Oklahoma State Highway 20. This continues for approximately 5.4 miles (8.7km) until both routes terminate at Missouri Route 43.
South Dakota Highway 43 (SD 43) is a short state route that runs from U.S. Highway 18, 1 mile (1.6km) south of Fairfax, southeasterly to the Nebraska border, where it becomes Nebraska Highway 11. The route is 1 mile (1.6km) in length.
Route description
South Dakota Highway 43 begins at the Nebraska–South Dakota border as a continuation of Nebraska Highway 11. It runs northwest for approximately one mile before meeting its northern terminus at US 18. The highway does not run through any populated areas, but rather serves as a connector route between Nebraska Highway 11 and US 18.
History
The first road designated as South Dakota 43 was around 1932, in Platte. It ran east before heading south to pass through Geddes, ending at U.S. Highway 18 west of Lake Andes. This segment, previously part of South Dakota Highway 45, was given a separate number when SD 45 was rerouted south from Platte. By 1935, it was extended to the north and west, assuming the routing of South Dakota Highway 47 when the latter highway was relocated west of the Missouri River; its northern terminus was at the intersection of U.S. Highway 16 in Pukwana (Brule County). The number was removed around 1940, when South Dakota Highway 50 was extended northwest from its previous terminus near Ravinia (east of Lake Andes).
Arkansas (i/ˈɑːrkənsɔː/) is a state located in the Southern region of the United States. Its name is of Siouan derivation, denoting the QuapawIndians. The state's diverse geography ranges from the mountainous regions of the Ozark and the Ouachita Mountains, which make up the U.S. Interior Highlands, to the densely forested land in the south known as the Arkansas Timberlands, to the eastern lowlands along the Mississippi River and the Arkansas Delta. Known as "the Natural State", Arkansas has many diverse regions that offer residents and tourists a variety of opportunities for outdoor recreation.
"Arkansas", written by Eva Ware Barnett in 1916, is one of the official state songs of Arkansas. It was first adopted as the state song in the early 20th century, but was removed in 1949 due to a copyright dispute. After the state settled the dispute by buying all claims to its copyright, it was restored as state song in 1963.
In 1987, the General Assembly elevated the song to "state anthem" in order to designate "Arkansas (You Run Deep In Me)" and "Oh, Arkansas", both written for the state's 150th birthday in 1986, as state songs; it also designated "The Arkansas Traveler", the state song from 1949 to 1963, as "state historical song".
Another 1987 law requires the Secretary of State to respond to all requests for copies of the "state song" with this song. However, this was done only to preserve the historical status of this song; all four songs are either copyrighted by the state itself or in the public domain. Today, the Secretary of State posts the lyrics to all four songs on its website.

Arkansas State Highway 43 (western), 2020 Neighborhood Series
The last few miles of the western AR-43 contain a rarity within America's road network: a concurrency of state highways from DIFFERENT states, in this instance OK-20. Not only that, there are also two instances where a state highway is located totally within a completely different state.
