Anthemius (Latin: Procopius Anthemius Augustus) (c. 420 – 11 July 472) was Western Roman Emperor from 467 to 472.
Perhaps the last capable Western Roman Emperor, Anthemius attempted to solve the two primary military challenges facing the remains of the Western Roman Empire: the resurgent Visigoths, under Euric, whose domain straddled the Pyrenees; and the unvanquished Vandals, under Geiseric, in undisputed control of North Africa. Anthemius was killed by Ricimer, his own general of Gothic descent, who contested power with him.
Anthemius was the grandson of Flavius Philippus, praetorian prefect of the East in 346. He rose to prominence during the reign of Arcadius, when he was appointed comes sacrarum largitionum ("Count of the Sacred Largesses") around or in 400 and later magister officiorum ("Master of the Offices") in 404. He occupied the latter position during the disturbances which followed John Chrysostom's final deposition from the patriarchate (Easter, 404). John's enemies demanded troops from him with which to disperse the crowd. At first he refused, but then yielded, declaring that they were responsible for the consequences.
Flavius Anthemius: Praetorian Prefect and Imperial Regent - The Life and Legacy of a Roman Statesman

Centurion Showcase: Praetorian Prefect
Hello this is Father Artemus, I've been around since the closed Beta and the main reason I continue to play is the potential that each hero has to look great. So I decided to create a series where I showcase my outfits set and maybe in the future take suggestions for more designs.

The Theodosians (Eastern Rome Summarized IV)
The Theodosian dynasty was an important and influential one in Roman history. Theodosius I split the Empire and paved way for the survival of the East. Arcadius and Honorius... just filled the power vacuum. Theodosius II and his gang built an unbreakable wall that defended Constantinople until 1453, created a universal law code, and further shaped the characteristics of the Eastern Roman Empire. Marcianus pushed the Eastern Empire into a golden age. So yeah, there's a lot to talk about.
I had a lot of fun making this. The next video will be about the glorious golden age of Eastern Rome, and then we will cover Justinian!

The East at its Peak (Eastern Rome Summarized V)
As the Theodosian dynasty ends, a new one arises: the Leonid line of Roman Emperors. An unlikely Thracian, Leo, was placed on the throne of the Eastern Empire by Aspar the kingmaker, but he intended to not be a puppet. He fought off Aspar's control and his successors continued to reform and stabilize the Empire, up to the point that when the Leonid dynasty died out, the new Emperor Justin inherited a splendid, prosperous state at the height of its glory.
And yes this is all a prelude to set up the stage for Justinian's epic reconquest, the subject of the next video! So make sure to subscribe if you are interested.

The legends say Romulus founded the Eternal City of Rome on the banks of the Tiber in 753 B.C.. Augustus (or at least so he said) had re-founded Rome from a decaying pile of bricks to a gleaming city of imperial marble during the end of the quite tumultuous 1st Century B.C. which coincided with the Fall of the Roman Republic as it transitioned into the Principate Era of the now Roman Empire.
Then Constantine I had packed up and went Eastward to found the New Rome which would be known as Constantinople (the "City of Constantine") on the banks of the Bosphorus. Ironically, harkening back to the days of competent and far-sighted Roman leadership such as under the first Roman Emperor Augustus, Flavius Anthemius had been essentially the second founder of Constantinople.

It was under his tenure as Praetorian Prefect of the East and the Effective Regent of both the Eastern Roman / Byzantine Emperors, Arcadius and later Theodosius II that the administration of the Eastern Half of the Roman Empire would be in the hands of an extremely capable, yet seldomly celebrated statesman and under his guidance New Rome would solidify symbolically and literally the fortifications that would stand as the preserver of the cultural and political vestiges of the classical Greco-Roman World which was gradually giving way to modernity.

In this video we shall explore the state of the city of Rome during its peak. Firstly, when was the peak even? We shall see: A lot later than is commonly believed. We shall see how the emperor Maxentius, a very unknown emperor, built the last magnificent buildings of imperial stature in ancient Rome. We shall also see how Constantine then added a few more buildings, but then abandoned the old capital for his Nova Roma, his new Christian capital in the east. "Flavius Anthemius was a high-ranking official of the late Roman Empire. He is notable as a praetorian prefect of the East and effective regent of the Eastern Roman Empire during the later reign of Arcadius and the first years of Theodosius II, during which time he supervised the construction of the first set of the famous Theodosian Walls."

A Preview of Our Article:
Anthemius was the grandson of Flavius Philippus, a Praetorian Prefect of the East in 346. He rose to prominence during the reign of Arcadius, when he was appointed Comes Sacrarum Largitionum ("Count of the Sacred Largesses") around / or in 400 and later the Magister Officiorum ("Master of the Offices") in 404.

Anthemius was the last Roman emperor of the west of any real consequence. He was a good administrator and managed to unite the disparate parts of the western Roman Empire together. However, his failure abroad and enemies at home eventually brought his reign to an end. but This is also an April Fool edition of Eastern Roman History.

Theodosius is now dead and the empire is split in two for the final time. The eventful three decades long reign of emperor Honorius was a turning point for the roman state.

Hello this is Father Artemus, I've been around since the closed Beta and the main reason I continue to play is the potential that each hero has to look great. So I decided to create a series where I showcase my outfits set and maybe in the future take suggestions for more designs.

Anyway, if you like this video, please subscribe and share it with your friends!

That is when the decline of Rome would start.
