Anointing of the sick, known also by other names, is a form of religious anointing or "unction" (an older term with the same meaning) for the benefit of a sick person. It is practiced by many Christian churches and denominations.
Anointing of the sick was a customary practice in many civilizations, including among the ancient Greeks and early Jewish communities. The use of oil for healing purposes is referred to in the writings of Hippocrates.
Since 1972, the Roman Catholic Church uses the name "Anointing of the Sick" both in the English translations issued by the Holy See of its official documents in Latin and in the English official documents of Episcopal conferences. It does not, of course, forbid the use of other names, for example the more archaic term "Unction of the Sick" or the term "Extreme Unction". Cardinal Walter Kasper used the latter term in his intervention at the 2005 Assembly of the Synod of Bishops. However, the Church declared that "'Extreme unction' ... may also and more fittingly be called 'anointing of the sick'" (emphasis added), and has itself adopted the latter term, while not outlawing the former. This is to emphasize that the sacrament is available, and recommended, to all those suffering from any serious illness, and to dispel the common misconception that it is exclusively for those at or very near the point of death.
Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of the Catholic Church that is administered to a Catholic "who, having reached the age of reason, begins to be in danger due to sickness or old age", except in the case of those who "persevere obstinately in manifest grave sin". Proximate danger of death, the occasion for the administration of Viaticum, is not required, but only the onset of a medical condition considered to be a possible prelude to death.
The sacrament is also referred to as Unction, and in the past as Extreme Unction, and it is one of the three sacraments that constitute the last rites (together with the Sacrament of Penance and Viaticum).
The sacrament is administered by a priest, who uses olive oil or another pure plant oil to anoint the patient's forehead and perhaps other parts of the body while reciting certain prayers. It is believed to give comfort, peace, courage and, if the sick person is unable to make a confession, even forgiveness of sins. Several other churches and ecclesial communities have similar rituals (see Anointing of the Sick for a more general discussion).
Dozer was formed in Borlänge, Sweden in 1995 by Tommi Holappa, Fredrik Nordin, Erik Bäckwall and Magnus Larsson, playing local youth centres and supporting any bands that came to their hometown. In 1996 Magnus Larsson left and Johan Rockner joined the band. In 1998 the band recorded a Split EP with the American band Unida. The EP was originally released by MeteorCity and re-issued in 2005.
Breakthrough and rise to success
While trying to secure a record deal they sent a demo tape to Man's Ruin Records, a highly influential label in the stoner rock scene at the time. Frank Kozik, the owner of Man's Ruin, was thoroughly impressed and the band quickly recorded an album. In 2000 Dozer released their first album In The Tail of a Comet, which was recorded for only $500. The band's second album Madre de Dios was released on Man's Ruin in 2001 along with a vinyl version on Molten Universe. Man's Ruin Records closed down shortly after the release.
Illness, suffering, and death are some of the greatest problems we face as humans. Physical illness can sometimes lead to a turning away from God. But Jesus wants to be with us in our suffering so he gave the Church the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Sometimes, we are physically healed if that is the will of God and will bring us closer to him. But most importantly, God offers us grace to strengthen us in illness and the priest can pray with us on behalf of the Church, in the midst of our suffering.

Don't think I can't see through you Don't think you would ever fool me I'll get what's coming to me From the womb unto the tomb The stagnant air that fills the room Into the shrine where you have knelt You felt the buckle now feel the belt Don't give it away Your deepest cut will leave no mark This sceptic skin will never scar Come breathe some light into my dark Be penitent and penetrate Between the liquor and all these lies See past the bruises of your hate Come face to face and meet your fate The weak will walk the sick will see Caress my cursed soul for me These begging hands will pray with glee Upon your blackened fists and knees This sleuth hound is the Lord of lies This boiling pot will draw the flies Write one more cheque before you die Repeat Don't think I can't see through ya Do ya think I'd ever fool ya You'll get what's coming to ya You'll get what's coming to ya You'll get what's coming to ya The weak will walk the sick will see Caress my cursed soul for me These begging hands will prey with glee
The sacrament of the anointing of the sick is not just for those who are nearing the end of their life, PopeFrancis said ... “When a person is very ill, it’s advisable to give them the anointing of the sick.
