Although its territory has been inhabited since the Paleolithic Era, modern Angola originates in Portuguese colonization, which began with, and was for centuries limited to, coastal settlements and trading posts established from the 16th century onwards. In the 19th century, European settlers slowly and hesitantly began to establish themselves in the interior. As a Portuguese colony, Angola did not encompass its present borders until the early 20th century, following resistance by groups such as the Cuamato, the Kwanyama and the Mbunda. Independence was achieved in 1975 after a protracted liberation war. That same year, Angola descended into an intense civil war that lasted until 2002. It has since become a relatively stable unitarypresidential republic.
Portuguese Angola or Portuguese West Africa are the common terms by which Angola is designated when referring to the historic period when it was a Portuguese overseas territory in southwestern Africa. The former Portuguese Angola became an independent country in 1975 and now forms the Republic of Angola.
During its history of 400 years, Portuguese Angola had the following formal designations: Donee of the Kingdom of Sebaste (1575-1588) Captaincy-General of the Kingdom of Angola (1588-1834), Province of Angola (1834-1926), Colony of Angola (1926-1951), Province of Angola (1951-1972) and State of Angola (1972-1975). It is to note that the term "Colony of Angola" began to be used occasionally since 1914, but only in 1926 it completely replaced the designation "Province of Angola".
History
The history of Portuguese presence on the territory of contemporary Angola lasted from the arrival of the explorerDiogo Cão in 1484 until the decolonization of the territory in 1975. During these five centuries, several entirely different situations have to be distinguished.
Angola (/ænˈɡoʊ.lə/) is a city mentioned in the Book of Mormon. It was located near or in the north countries and was the site of a portion of the long and final battle between the Nephites and the Lamanites.
The city is identified in only one verse, Mormon2:4. The Nephites retreated towards the north countries and came to Angola and fortified the city during the period of A.C. 327–328, but were unable to withstand the Lamanites' attacks and were driven from the city.Mormon2:5 might be interpreted in such a way as to suggest that Angola was located somewhere in the land of David.
It has been argued that Joseph Smith named the Book of Mormon city after Angola, New York.Mormon apologists have pointed out that while the Book of Mormon was first published in 1830, the New York settlement did not adopt the name "Angola" until 1855.

Nobody Knows About This Place!! (ANGOLA)
The next 6 days of my life are going to be amazing, as I take you inside the hidden country of ANGOLA!
Angola has notoriously been known for being one of the most difficult African countries to visit, as it was nearly impossible to get a tourist visa. But a few months ago, they released an online e-visa to Angola and now it's easier than it's ever been to get inside.
I have spent the last few days in Angola's capital city of Luanda with a social media friend, José, and WOW, this place is bizarre and eye-opening. Everywhere you looks is something different. Angola is full of contrasts and surprises.
This video will give you a sneak peak of what's to come in the next week in Angola. Who's excited?!

Are these scenarios possible? Well, the fact is it is very much possible because African countries have all the human and material resources to achieve this.
Angola, a country in Central Africa under the rule of its former President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, even though it was a corrupt regime, gave a glimpse of how an African country turned things around to become the savior of its former colonial master.

Mormonism rather than being Christocentric is church-egocentric. It is twistology of theology, sedition of addition, and infusion of confusion, very radically unlike the purity, simplicity and power of devotion to Christ so gloriously lived and ministered by the church of the first century.
Many Mormons remain in the LDS church due to their unwillingness to conjure the courage to research their church's history outside sanitized, revisionist sources that are the work of deliberate deception.

Tragic Decline of the Nephites: Book of Mormon Chapters 2-3 Summary
In Mormon Chapter 2, Mormon becomes the leader of the Nephite armies as a young man (around age 16). The Nephites are engaged in a relentless and devastating war with the Lamanites. Despite the increasing wickedness among the Nephite people, Mormon leads them courageously in battle. They have brief victories, but these are overshadowed by their ongoing disobedience to God. Mormon’s heart breaks as he witnesses the Nephites’ refusal to repent, and he realizes their eventual destruction seems inevitable due to their hardened hearts.
Throughout the chapter, Mormon attempts to call his people to repentance, but they continue in their sinful ways. He mourns for their spiritual state, understanding that God’s protection is conditional on their faithfulness, which they are unwilling to restore.

THE BOOK OF MORMON
CHAPTER 2
Mormon leads the Nephite armies—Blood and carnage sweep the land—The Nephites lament and mourn with the sorrowing of the damned—Their day of grace is passed—Mormon obtains the plates of Nephi—Wars continue. Between A.D. 327 and 350
1 And it came to pass in that same year there began to be a war again between the Nephites and the Lamanites. And notwithstanding I being young, was large in stature; therefore the people of Nephi appointed me that I should be their leader, or the leader of their armies.
2 Therefore it came to pass that *in my sixteenth year I did go forth at the head of an army of the Nephites, against the Lamanites; therefore three hundred and twenty and six years had passed away.
3 And it came to pass that in the three hundred and twenty and seventh year the Lamanites did come upon us with exceedingly great power, insomuch that they did frighten my armies; therefore they would not fight, and they began to retreat towards the north countries.
4 And it came to pass that we did come to the city of Angola, and we did take possession of the city, and make preparations to defend ourselves against the Lamanites. And it came to pass that we did fortify the city with our might; but notwithstanding all our fortifications the Lamanites did come upon us and did drive us out of the city.
5 And they did also drive us forth out of the land of David.
6 And we marched forth and came to the land of Joshua, which was in the borders west by the seashore.
7 And it came to pass that we did gather in our people as fast as it were possible, that we might get them together in one body.
8 But behold, the land was filled with robbers and with Lamanites; and notwithstanding the great destruction which hung over my people, they did not repent of their evil doings; therefore there was blood and carnage spread throughout all the face of the land, both on the part of the Nephites and also on the part of the Lamanites; and it was one complete revolution throughout all the face of the land.
9 And now, the Lamanites had a king, and his name was Aaron; and he came against us with an army of forty and four thousand. And behold, I withstood him with forty and two thousand. And it came to pass that I beat him with my army that he fled before me. And behold, all this was done, and *three hundred and thirty years had passed away.
10 And it came to pass that the Nephites began to repent of their iniquity, and began to cry even as had been prophesied by Samuel the prophet; for behold no man could keep that which was his own, for the thieves, and the robbers, and the murderers, and the magic art, and the witchcraft which was in the land.
11 Thus there began to be a mourning and a lamentation in all the land because of these things, and more especially among the people of Nephi.
12 And it came to pass that when I, Mormon, saw their lamentation and their mourning and their sorrow before the Lord, my heart did begin to rejoice within me, knowing the mercies and the long-suffering of the Lord, therefore supposing that he would be merciful unto them that they would again become a righteous people.
13 But behold this my joy was vain, for their sorrowing was not unto repentance, because of the goodness of God; but it was rather the sorrowing of the damned, because the Lord would not always suffer them to take happiness in sin.
14 And they did not come unto Jesus with broken hearts and contrite spirits, but they did curse God, and wish to die. Nevertheless they would struggle with the sword for their lives.
15 And it came to pass that my sorrow did return unto me again, and I saw that the day of grace was passed with them, both temporally and spiritually; for I saw thousands of them hewn down in open rebellion against their God, and heaped up as dung upon the face of the land. And thus *three hundred and forty and four years had passed away.
16 And it came to pass that in the three hundred and forty and fifth year the Nephites did begin to flee before the Lamanites; and they were pursued until they came even to the land of Jashon, before it was possible to stop them in their retreat.
17 And now, the city of Jashon was near the land where Ammaron had deposited the records unto the Lord, that they might not be destroyed. And behold I had gone according to the word of Ammaron, and taken the plates of Nephi, and did make a record according to the words of Ammaron. . ..

Paul Richards, who left BYU in 1992 as BYU spokesman... 'I worked in public affairs for the church for 13 years, and I had to lie all the time...'(The Arizona Republic Oct. 10, 1993, quoted in Issue 85 (Nov. 1993) of the Salt Lake Messenger)
Ken Clark, a former LDS CES Institute Director for 27 years, illustrates how the Mormon Church utilizes deceptions and outright lies to maintain control over members and potential converts to Mormonism. Watch the 10 part series "Lying for the Lord" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRzHUMyukCM

Chapter 3
In Chapter 3, Mormon decides to stop leading the Nephite armies. He sees that their wickedness has reached such an extent that they cannot receive divine protection, and he is deeply saddened by their failure to repent. He writes to future generations, expressing hope that they will learn from the Nephites’ mistakes.
Later, when the Lamanites resume their attacks, Mormon is persuaded to return to lead the Nephite armies once again. Despite his leadership, the Nephites continue to lose ground. The chapter highlights the Nephites’ increasing despair and their misguided attempts to find strength without turning to God. Mormon laments their situation, recognizing that their pride and stubbornness are leading them toward ruin.
These chapters illustrate themes of repentance, pride, and the consequences of ignoring divine guidance. Mormon, though saddened, remains faithful and dedicated to recording these events for future generations, hoping they will heed his warnings.

The Book of Mormon ~ Another Testament of Jesus Christ
Mormon leads the Nephite armies—Blood and carnage sweep the land—The Nephites lament and mourn with the sorrowing of the damned—Their day of grace is passed—Mormon obtains the plates of Nephi—Wars continue. About A.D. 327–50.
1 And it came to pass in that same year there began to be a war again between the Nephites and the Lamanites. And notwithstanding I being young, was large in stature; therefore the people of Nephi appointed me that I should be their leader, or the leader of their armies.
2 Therefore it came to pass that in my sixteenth year I did go forth at the head of an army of the Nephites, against the Lamanites; therefore three hundred and twenty and six years had passed away.
And behold, all this was done, and three hundred and thirty years had passed away.
And thus three hundred and forty and four years had passed away.
18 And upon the plates of Nephi I did make a full account of all the wickedness and abominations; but upon these plates I did forbear to make a full account of their wickedness and abominations, for behold, a continual scene of wickedness and abominations has been before mine eyes ever since I have been sufficient to behold the ways of man.

There is a map some critics of the Book of Mormon use as “evidence” that the Prophet Joseph Smith copied Book of Mormon place names from towns and cities in his area. Let me tell you why those theories just don't hold up.

Vernal Holley interview https://collections.lib.utah.edu/details?id=828870
"There are 345 unique place names mentioned in the Book of Mormon. What Vernal Holley did was look at the modern maps he had available, covering a pretty wide area from West Virginia to Michigan, to Eastern Canada, looking for place names that he thought Joseph Smith might have borrowed for Book of Mormon locations. He came up with 28 place names that sounded similar to those in the Book of Mormon, and created a map of where they were located in New England and how he believed they could correspond to Book of Mormon geography as well, but there are two big problems with this.
First, the map he created doesn’t line up with what we know of Book of Mormon geography at all. Cities that are supposed to be North are actually South, Cities that are supposed to be in the East are actually in the West. Nothing on the map actually corresponds to the relative locations and distances we are told about in the Book of Mormon.
The second, and I think bigger, problem with the Holley map, is that of the names he did include, 12 of them, almost half, did not even exist in Joseph’s time, or did not have those names yet. Kishkiminetas, Pennsylvania for example, which Holley claimed was the inspiration for the name Kishkuman, wasn’t named that until 1832, two years after the Book of Mormon was published. 9 of them are Biblical names, like Jordan or Jerusalem, which makes sense given the Nephites’ ancestry, that Joseph wouldn’t have even needed a map for if he had wanted to plagiarize.
There are some that did exist at Joseph’s time, like Monroe, which Holley claimed was the inspiration for Moroni, and Ripple Lake, which he speculated was the basis for the Waters of Ripliancum, but many were located far away from Joseph, or so small that they did not appear on many maps of the time.
Basically, this map was created from a logical fallacy. Just because a few names sound similar, only 2% of all the place names in the Book of Mormon, does not mean that they’re necessarily connected when there’s no other evidence anywhere to support this theory."

Is it possible that, in a twist of fate, African countries, once colonies of the West, would rise up and be the colonizers? We know colonization is bad, yes, but just think about it for a minute. What if instead of African countries receiving foreign aid every year, African countries are now the ones sending aid worth millions of dollars to Europe and the West? What if instead of Africa always looking to attract investment from foreign companies, which at the end of the day doesn't favor the country, it's now the West and Europe begging for investment from Africa? What if instead of Africans migrating en masse to Europe looking for better opportunities, Europeans are now the ones migrating in their numbers, searching for better opportunities in African countries? Are these scenarios possible? Well, the fact is it is very much possible because African countries have all the human and material resources to achieve this.
Angola, a country in Central Africa under the rule of its former President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, even though it was a corrupt regime, gave a glimpse of how an African country turned things around to become the savior of its former colonial master.

And behold I had gone according to the word of Ammaron, and taken the plates of Nephi, and did make a record according to the words of Ammaron. . ..

Love Mormons; abhor Mormonism. Earnestly contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints according to Jude 3. Exult in and exalt Christ alone. Speak the Truth in love. Detest the damnable heresies of devils' doctrines that are the ongoing work of seducing, lying spirits of deception and error, emmisaried to divert, mormonize and bastardize Bible belief.
"If you want to boast, take pride in the things that make you weak, for when you are weak, you are strong - in Him. Be afraid of the praise and acceptance of others, for they are the fertilizer for the self-important and grandiose thoughts that are yours by nature anyway, which spring up in the shallow ground of your carnal mind. Carry about the Death of the Lord so you may have the Life of the Lord. Be ready to suffer with Him, that you may reign with Him." Chip Brogden

And thus three hundred and forty and four years had passed away.
