All about the large intestine
After passing through the small intestine food travels into the large intestine.
Your large intestine is roughly 9 feet in length but gets it’s name because it has a larger diameter than the small intestine.
Your large intestine is also called the colon.

The function of the large intestine is to absorb fluids and salts from indigestible food matter - and to collect and eventually relieve the body of waste matter.
The large intestine is divided unto the cecum with its vermiform appendix, the ascending colon, the transverse colon, the descending colon, the sigmoid colon and the rectum and anal canal.
The cecum is an intraperitoneal pouch-like structure that is about 7.5cm in diameter. It is usually in contact with the anterior abdominal wall and sometimes may cross the pelvic brim to lie in the true pelvis.
In the superior border of the cecum we can see an invagination known as the ileocaecal valve or ileal papilla. This structure is located in the opening between the small and large intestine. It prevents reflux from the cecum to the ileum, and regulates the passage of contents from the ileum to the cecum.
In this video preview, we cover:

0:45 Sections of the large intestine

Colon cancer is one of the most common cancers in people of all genders and the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. It happens when the cells that line the colon become abnormal and grow out of control.
With prompt treatment, though, the outlook is hopeful. Cleveland Clinic experts explain what kind of warning signs could indicate colon cancer and what to ask your doctor when it comes to screenings.

Lyrics:
I am your Large Intestine
Though I’m shorter than your small
I’m called your large intestine due to my
my expanded walls
I’m made up of ten different parts
All connected into one
We’ll start at the tip of your Appendix
It’s attached to your Cecum
The next part of my tubular shape
is the Ascending Colon
Which leads to the Hepatic Flexure
So your learning in this song
Your Transverse Colon
runs across your entire abdomen
Then turns at your
Splenic Flexure onto the
Descending Colon
Your curved S-shaped
Sigmoid Colon
leads to your Rectum
Which is where your fecal matter
meets your Anus in your bum
I am your Large Intestine
Though I’m shorter than your small
I’m called your large intestine due to my
my expanded walls
Let me tell you how I work
and a little bit about me
I’m only five feet in length
But I am wide which is why I’m called large see
My most important job
is absorbing water from your chyme
If I didn’t perform this function
you’d have loose stools all the time
Millions of bacteria do live inside of me
An important one is E-coli
Its job is very key
E-coli breaks down all the chyme
that your body can’t digest
And Produces vitamin-K
that regulates blood clotting at best
Another important job that your Large Intestine has to play
Yeah It excretes all your waste to help your body stay healthy
I am your Large Intestine
Though I’m shorter than your small
I’m called your large intestine due to my
my expanded walls

In this video, Jonathan from the Institute of Human Anatomy talks through why some people are naturally better at endurance sports while others excel at explosive movements. In this comprehensive guide to muscle fiber types you will learn the science behind fast-twitch, slow-twitch, and hybrid muscle fibers, how they influence athletic performance, and whether you can change your muscle fiber composition through training.
----
0:00 - 0:54 Intro
0:54 - 1:44 The Basics of Muscle Fibers
1:44 - 2:32 Fast Twitch vs Slow Twitch Fiber Proportions
2:32 - 3:20 Factors That Influence Fast Twitch & Slow Twitch Fiber Proportions from Person to Person
3:20 - 4:15 Defining Slow Oxidative Fibers
4:16 - 5:28 The Strengths of Slow Fibers
5:28 - 6:25 Defining Fast Glycolytic Fibers
6:25 - 7:35 The Strengths of Fast Glycolytic Fibers
7:35 - 9:38 The Role of... The Hybrid Fibers!? (Type IIa Fibers!)
9:38 - 10:15 How Your Body "Decides" What Fiber Type to Use
10:15 - 12:53 Jonathan and Geoffrey's Summary of the Fibers
12:53 - 16:16 How Training Influences Muscle Fiber Adaptations
