"Pieces of a Dream" is a song by American pop singer-songwriter Anastacia from her first greatest hits album, Pieces of a Dream (2005). Written by Anastacia, Glen Ballard, and David Hodges, it was produced by Hodges and details a number of difficult issues the singer experienced while touring in 2005 such as the breakdown of her relationship and the death of her estranged father. The single was released as the album's lead single in Europe on November 11, 2005. The single reached the top ten in Italy and the Netherlands, and the top twenty in Germany and Switzerland. It also peaked at number one in Spain three years after its original release.
Critical reception
Allmusic editor Sharon Mawer said that this song is "more midtempo but it suffers from a lack of a discernible melody."
Music video
The music video for "Pieces of a Dream" was directed by David Lippman and Charles Mehling, and was filmed in Los Angeles, California, between September 17–18, 2005.
The video is notable for being shot entirely in black-and-white. It is mostly set in dark woods, and has no coherent storyline, featuring a series of mysterious images—perhaps to literally interpret the song's title.
"Pieces of a Dream" is the first single from the JapaneseR&B (J-urban) band Chemistry.
Overview
This was the first single from the duo that had won the Asayan held in Japan. Since the band won a contest similar to the American Idol show, the single was expected to be a success. Although the single debuted at #2 on the Oricon charts, it finally reached #1 after 6 weeks. For 15 weeks, it stayed in the top 10. Once it fell from the number one spot, it charted for another twenty-two weeks. "Pieces of a Dream" was the third-highest ranking single of 2001, selling over one million copies.
The Blueprint²: The Gift & the Curse is the seventh studio album by American rapper Jay-Z, released on November 12, 2002. The album serves as the sequel to his sixth album The Blueprint. Parts of the album were later reissued as The Blueprint 2.1 in 2003.
This album, like Jay-Z's previous four, debuted at #1 with over 545,000 units shipped in its first week of sales, and has sold 2,117,000 units as of February 2012 in the U.S.
"A Dream" is a single by rapperCommon from the soundtrack to Freedom Writers. It is produced by will.i.am, who also sings the song's chorus. The song heavily samples Martin Luther King Jr.'s historical "I Have a Dream" speech, which relates to the song's lyrics about racism. The single release of "A Dream" includes two will.i.am tracks, "Colors" and "Bus Ride."
Music video
The video for the single contains scenes from the Freedom Writers movie (many of which feature Hilary Swank, its lead actress), mixed with partially animated sequences featuring will.i.am singing on a podium and Common rapping in hallways and rooms in front of stylized images of both the Holocaust and the Civil Rights Movement. Television footage of the "I Have a Dream" speech is displayed on monitors throughout the video. The imagery is intended to reinforce the song's messages of perseverance in the face of discrimination, and hopes for a more racially tolerant world.

Anastacia Lyn Newkirk (born September 17, 1968) is an American singer-songwriter, producer and former dancer. She is best known for her pop music of the early 2000s which had a significant impact in Europe and Oceania. Her first two albums Not That Kind (2000) and Freak of Nature (2001) were released in quick succession to major success. Spurred on by the multi-platinum, global smash I'm Outta Love, Anastacia was awarded as the 'World's Best-Selling New Female Pop Artist' in 2001. Her commercial appeal continued with international hits such as "Paid My Dues", One Day In Your Life and the official song of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, "Boom". After recovering from cancer, she returned with 2004's Anastacia which deviated from previous albums into pop-rock. Peaking at No. 1 in 11 countries, it became Europe's second biggest selling album of the year. Its lead "Left Outside Alone" remained at No. 1 on the European Billboard chart for 15 weeks and helped Anastacia launch the most successful European tour by a solo artist that same year. In 2005, the multi-platinum compilation project Pieces of a Dream was released which spawned the chart topping duet with Eros Ramazzotti, "I Belong to You (Il Ritmo della Passione)". Anastacia established herself as one of the top selling international female pop-singers of the 2000s before taking a hiatus in late 2006. She has sold over 30 million records worldwide and has topped the U.S. dance chart on two separate occasions.
