Alyssa Ashley Reid (born March 15, 1993) is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Reid rose to fame in 2011, following the release of her single "Alone Again".
Early life
Alyssa Reid was born in Edmonton, Alberta on March 15, 1993 and raised in Brampton, Ontario, although her family moved around Canada often - Reid has stated she is glad this happened as it gave her the life experience she needed to make it in the music industry. Reid wrote her first song at the age of 7 and started vocal lessons at the age of 9. From this early age, she has continued to work to develop her voice into what has today become a singular vocal style. She is of Scottish and Polish heritage.
Career
2008: "The Next Star"
On July 18, 2008, Reid began her career by appearing on the first season of YTV's singing competition The Next Star at age 15. Although she was one of the top 6 finalists and performed at the show's finale, she ultimately didn't win the competition. Her original song was "Gonna Make You Dance."
"Alone Again" was released in November 2010, entering the Canadian Hot 100 at no. 79 for the week of January 1, 2011 and peaked at no. 11 the week of April 23, 2011. Alone Again was the top selling and highest charting single by a Canadian artist at Canadian radio in 2011. A different version with Jump Smokers was released internationally, becoming a major hit in parts of Europe, peaking within the top ten of the charts in Poland and the United Kingdom. Another version was made, which features vocals sections from both Jump Smokers and P.Reign.
Music video
The music video was directed by Marc Andre DeBruyne. It was first released onto YouTube on 18 May 2011 at a total length of four minutes and five seconds. The video went to number one at MuchMusic and was nominated for a 2011 MMVA for 'Pop Video of the Year'.
Quiet Song is a solo piano album by Paul Bley, recorded in Norway in 1974 and released on Bley's own Improvising Artists label in 1975.
Reception
Allmusic awarded the album 3 stars noting "Bley stayed mainly in the piano's center, creating nimble melodies, working off them and crafting alternate directions or intriguing counterpoints. It was intellectual, occasionally stiff, but never dull or detached".
"Alone Again" is a power ballad written and released by the American heavy metal band Dokken on their 1984 album Tooth and Nail. The single reached #64 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #20 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The song was written by singer Don Dokken and bassist Jeff Pilson. Its lyrics talk about a man's depression after a break-up. The music video had a story similar to a lot of other power ballads. Almost 70% of it is filmed in black and white along with some coloured scenes. It shows the band performing the song live along with some shots of Don Dokken being alone in a room.

Lyrics:
Bring me hope
Take me home
I think I’m ready to be on my own
Close my eyes
Lay me down
I think it’s time that I take some time
To be alone again
I’ve waited, been patient
Dedicated in the name of
Being more, giving all, that I have, but you want more
I’ve changed and I’m changing
It’s not over there’s still time left
It isn’t much, so make the most...

The Weeknd - Alone Again | Vevo Official Live Performance
The Weeknd's 'After Hours' is one of those albums that paints vivid pictures. Abel Tesfaye's music has a dark radiance that's both dreamy and eerie, and the record's videos flaunt their sensuality with a macabre grace. So we were thrilled to work with the singer and their team on three exclusive performances from the 'After Hours' song list. We're kicking off our roll-out with "Alone Again." Be here tomorrow and Wednesday for "In Your Eyes" and "Faith."
