Ira Stadlen (January 16, 1924 – April 18, 2010), known professionally as Allen Swift, was an American voice actor, known for playing characters including Simon Bar Sinister and Riff-Raff on the Underdog cartoon show. He provided the voices of many of the characters in The Bluffers, most of the voices for the 1960s underwater puppet show Diver Dan, and the voices in Gene Deitch's 1961–1962 group of Tom and Jerry cartoons. Swift was a children's television show host on WPIX in New York City as "Captain Allen". He took his professional name from radio comedian Fred Allen and 18th century satirist Jonathan Swift.
Swift was an early television star who hosted The Popeye Show from September 10, 1956 to September 23, 1960, until he was forced to leave the program. The reason for his dismissal from The Popeye Show was creative differences with station management.
Swift did the majority of the voices in Rankin/Bass's Mad Monster Party?, credited as Alan (sic) Swift in the movie's credits. He was also in another Rankin/Bass TV special "The Emperor's New Clothes", as the voice of Musty, and also as the original voice of the Frito Bandito.

In this video I explain @escaping closures in Swift. I show you the difference between escaping and non-escaping closures as well as what it means to be @escaping. We use a common example of a network call to demonstrate this concept.
This tutorial was done using Swift 5.3 and Xcode 12 (beta).

No, Swift is NOT dying... Response to Stefan Mischook - Google Flutter vs. Swift
I didn't intend to make a response video, but I received a lot of questions/feedback from my audience about this. Some were genuinely concerned they made the wrong career move by choosing Swift, and this struck a chord with me as I feel he was putting out some misinformation.
In his video, Stefan, makes the case for non-native app development like Google Flutter, React Native, Phone Gap, Ionic, Cordova replacing native development. This is a perfectly valid opinion, however, I felt he was spreading some misinformation when he said companies are no longer writing native, and that non-native apps are dominating the app space.
*** This is NOT a native vs. non-native argument video. That's not what this is about.

The Springfield Rolls Royce of M. Allen Swift
Mr. Swift was given this Rolls Royce, built in Springfield, MA, as a graduation present in 1928. He'd driven it over 1,000,000 miles when he died at 102. It's now on display in a Springfield Museum.

Swift - Result Type - Cleaner Network Calls
Head to https://squarespace.com/seanallen to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain using code SEANALLEN.
In today's video I show you how to use Swift's Result type that was introduced in Swift 5. In this video we clean up an old, ambiguous network call that relied on optionals. Using Swift's Result type eliminates the optionals and makes things very clear at the call site.

In this video I explain @escaping closures in Swift. I show you the difference between escaping and non-escaping closures as well as what it means to be @escaping. We use a common example of a network call to demonstrate this concept.
This tutorial was done using Swift 5.3 and Xcode 12 (beta).

Mr. Swift was given this Rolls Royce, built in Springfield, MA, as a graduation present in 1928. He'd driven it over 1,000,000 miles when he died at 102. It's now on display in a Springfield Museum.

In today's video I show you how to use Swift's Result type that was introduced in Swift 5. In this video we clean up an old, ambiguous network call that relied on optionals. Using Swift's Result type eliminates the optionals and makes things very clear at the call site.

The Seahawks, for all their physicality under Mike Macdonald, are also not necessarily a suffocating force against the run, and D'AndreSwift has proven explosive when given opportunities in Chicago's backfield.
The first overall pick in the 2024 draft went 18 for 31 for 191 yards and threw a late touchdown pass to Keenan Allen after a blocked punt gave Chicago the ball at the Minnesota 27. D’AndreSwift...
D'AndreSwift rushed for 79 yards on 19 carries as Keenan Allen caught six passes for 82 yards and the touchdown thrown by Williams... so head coach Raheem Morris needs to sort things out swiftly.
