At the time of her birth, her father had been in a relationship with folk singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Peggy Seeger since 1956 (a relationship that would continue until his death in 1989), and already had a son with her.

I'm nearly sober
And I can see the truth
I'm not immune to the sorrow that you put me through
Ohhh
All I ever wanted
Was a little more respect from you
I used to love you
But now I feel abused

All I ever wanted
Was a little more respect from you
I used to love you
But now I feel abused
I was a fool to be blind to the things you do

Now you think it's over
Decide what to do
I couldn't fall for your story if I wanted to
All I ever wanted
Was a little more respect from you
I tried to make you see
That you were losing me but every day
You still went out to play
And now I'll say for the last time
You had the chance
And I won't dance for you baby like you want me to

Kirsty MacColl ALL I EVER WANTED Single Remix
A wonderfully catchy but meaningful pop song from Kirsty MacColl's 1991 LP 'Electric Landlady'. Once again a serious lyric sits underneath a glorious set of melodies and harmonies - quintessential Kirsty! Although remixed and released as a single in September of '91, 'All i ever wanted' was shamefully not a chart success. It is a compelling and enjoyable lament to a dysfunctional relationship. What a singer! What a songwriter! And what a loss to the industry!
