Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov (Russian:Алекса́ндр Васи́льевич Суво́ров, rAleksandr Vasil‘evich Suvorov; 24 November[O.S. 13 November]1729 or 1730 – 18 May[O.S. 6 May]1800), Count Suvorov of Rymnik (граф Рымникский), Prince of Italy (князь Италийский), Count of the Holy Roman Empire, national hero of Russia, was the last Generalissimo of the Russian Empire. Nineteenth century sources sometimes refer to him as "Suwarrow" or "Suwarow".
Suvorov is one of the few generals in history who never lost a battle, being undefeated in over 60 large battles while frequently having numerical disadvantage. He was famed for his military manual The Science of Victory and noted for several of his sayings, including "What is difficult in training will become easy in a battle," "The bullet is a mad thing; only the bayonet knows what it is about," and "Perish yourself but rescue your comrade!" He taught his soldiers to attack instantly and decisively: "Attack with the cold steel! Push hard with the bayonet!". He joked with the men, calling common soldiers "brother," and shrewdly presented the results of detailed planning and careful strategy as the work of inspiration.
The Aleksandr Suvorov (Russian:Александр Суворов) is a Valerian Kuybyshev-class(92-016, OL400) Soviet/Russian river cruise ship, cruising in the Volga–Don basin. On 5 June 1983 Aleksandr Suvorov crashed into a girder of the Ulyanovsk railway bridge. The catastrophe led to 177 deaths yet the ship stayed afloat, was restored and still navigates. Her home port is currently Nizhny Novgorod.
History
The ship was built at Slovenské Lodenice in Komárno, Czechoslovakia in 1981 and was named after the 18th century Russian generalissimoAlexander Suvorov. Her length is 135.7m, width 16.8m, draft 2.9m, and power 3 × 736kW (2208). She has three engines and four decks. Her cruising speed is 26km/h (16mph; 14kn), and her passenger capacity is 400. During the 1980s Alexander Suvorov was a flagship of the Volga-Don Lines and was based at Rostov-on-Don.
On the 5th of June, 1983, guests on the Aleksandr Suvorov cruise ship were enjoying the summer evening. But very soon there would be little left of this serene display… And this cruise will become yet another classified soviet tragedy.

Suvorov's Alpine March. 200 years later. Part 1
There were three truly major and truly glorious campaigns against the West in the history of the Russian Armed Forces, when Europe met our Russian soldiers as the liberators. In 1945, we expelled Germans headed by Hitler from our land. In 1812, we were driving out the French headed by Napoleon, and we were victorious! But there was another campaign in 1799 led by Suvorov. That’s where most of you don’t quite know where did we go and who did we liberate. And this time we went much further west than Berlin and almost made it to France. Moreover, we didn't drive any enemy off our land. After all, the Russian soldiers went to Europe in order to help a friend!

Napoleon Bonaparte was at this time fighting in Egypt (Egyptian Campaign). His victories such the battle of the Pyramids were unable to calm the situation in Europe. Suvorov sought to meet Napoleon, but it was not destine to be. And while Napoleon was besieging Acre, Suvorov struck his own blow.
Suvorov was confronted in Italy and Switzerland by generals of the French Republic, Napoleon's future marshals: Macdonald, Massena, Victor, Soult. For some time the French commander-in-chief was General Moreau, one of the most talented generals of France.
While in Egypt, Napoleon received shocking news of Suvorov's successes in Italy, which was one reason he abandoned the army and sailed to France, where he later seized power in the Brumaire coup of November 1799.
Napoleon's First Italian Campaign, considered by many to be the greatest, was quickly destroyed by Suvorov.

For the first time in our series, we'll show you how Suvorov actually looked like. And most importantly, you'll see how we approve both the Suvorov's uniform and weapons of that glorious era in combat. All these experiments we will conduct honestly not just in the Alps, but in the very passes where our troops passed.
