Alberta is bounded by the provinces of British Columbia to the west and Saskatchewan to the east, the Northwest Territories to the north, and the US state of Montana to the south. Alberta is one of three Canadian provinces and territories to border only a single US state and one of only two landlocked provinces. It has a predominantly Humid continental climate, but seasonal temperature average swings are smaller than to areas further east, with winters being warmed by occasional chinook winds bringing sudden warming which moderates average temperatures.
Alberta's capital Edmonton is near the geographic centre of the province and is the primary supply and service hub for Canada's crude oil, oil sands (Athabasca oil sands) and other northern resource industries.
Unplugged is a live album by Eric Clapton released in 1992. It was recorded for the MTV Unplugged series and includes both the hit song "Tears in Heaven" and a heavily reworked acoustic version of "Layla". The album won three Grammy Awards in 1993 and sold 26 million copies worldwide.
Background
Clapton performed the show in front of a small audience on 16 January 1992 at Bray Film Studios in Windsor, England. In addition to the final album tracks, the performance included early versions of "My Father's Eyes" and "Circus Left Town" along with "Worried Life Blues" and a version of "Rollin' and Tumblin'". Clapton played Martin 000-42 acoustic guitars for much of the performance, and in 2004, one of the guitars sold for 791,500 USD (£ 434.400) in auction. Commenting on the popularity of the album in his 2007 autobiography, Clapton wishes the reader to understand the great emotional toll he experienced around that time, and suggests that they visit the grave of his son Conor in Ripley to do so.
Alberta (Minister of Education) v Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency (Access Copyright)
Alberta (Minister of Education) v Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency (Access Copyright), 2012 SCC 37, is a Supreme Court of Canada case that considered whether the photocopying of textbook excerpts by teachers, on their own initiative, to distribute to students as part of course materials is fair dealing pursuant to the provisions of the Copyright Act. The Supreme Court, in a 5/4 split, concluded that the Copyright Board made several errors in its analysis of the "fairness factors". Thus, it allowed the appeal and remitted the matter back to the Copyright Board for reconsideration.
Background and facts
Access Copyright represents authors and publishers of literary and artistic works. The entity administers the reproduction of such works by issuing licences and collecting and distributing royalties to affiliated copyright owners. When licensing or royalty agreements with users of the printed works cannot be reached, Access Copyright has the option to apply to the Copyright Board (the "Board") to certify a royalty in a form of a tariff.
Canada election: How are federal electoral districts determined?
The 2019 federal election is underway and all parties have launched campaigns in their drive to be the next government of Canada.
Parliament was dissolved on Sept. 11, which gave the Liberals, the Conservatives, the NDP, the Greens, and the Bloc Quebecois 40 days to try to convince voters they are the right choice.
During elections, we always hear about which ridings we should be watching, or which ones are likely to vote for certain parties. But have you ever stopped to think how those ridings are formed in the first place?

Given this is the first election to be held since President Moon Jae-in took power last year,... watchers say the June election will be a barometer of the administration's popularity.
Kim Min-ji reports.
The National Assembly on Monday passed a long overdue redistricting bill for the June 13th local elections.
By law, the electoral map has to be finalized six months prior to the election -- meaning December 13th last year -- but political wrangling kept lawmakers from having the bill ready on time.
The new map adds a combined 27 more positions for city and provincial councilors -- except for Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the administrative city of Sejong -- for a total of 690 posts.
As for council members -- there will be 29 more posts for a nationwide total of 2,927.
That's more than 3,600 positions up for grabs,... not counting the key posts of mayor, governor and education superintendent in 17 cities and provinces.
A mini general election is also in the works... as about 10 parliamentary seats are going to be vacant --
with some lawmakers giving up their posts to run for local office plus some who have been stripped of their position.
"With just three months left, the priorities of the rival parties will be to field the best possible candidates in hopes of at least keeping the posts they have now -- or if they're lucky, adding new ones. On top of that, it's the first nationwide poll under the Moon Jae-in administration -- meaning the results will be a barometer of how the public assesses the young government."
Preliminary registration is open for candidates running for mayor, district office chief, education superintendent and local councilor.
Registration for county council members will start in April.
Once registered,... candidates can start campaigning,... open their election offices,... and start sending material to voters in their constituencies.

And more recently, it’s also the reason that Republican candidates have been able to eke out victories in the presidential election without actually getting the most votes.
The Electoral College makes some Americans’ votes more powerful than others. In fact, that’s part of the reason we have it to begin with; in the country’s early years, the Electoral College helped give the votes of Southern Whites more weight than the votes of Northerners. The idea at its core, that certain votes simply matter more than others, is baked into the American tradition. In our elections, it decides the winner.

Are you considering a move to a new Canadian city to make a better life?
Alberta is a province in Western Canada. Its landscape encompasses mountains, prairies, desert badlands, and vast coniferous forests.
It is Canada's fourth-most populous province and the most populous of Canada's three prairie provinces.
Alberta has more than 600 lakes and rich mineral deposits. In the west, the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks have glaciers in the Columbia Icefields.
The Waterton Glacier International Peace Park is a biosphere reserve that straddles the southern border with the USA.
You can find several smaller towns and cities that are perfect for raising a family, finding a good job, or simply enjoying a quiet retirement.
Over the last five years, the province of Alberta has seen it’s population skyrocket due to people coming to the province to find work.
With its scenic beauty, no provincial tax, and higher average wages anywhere in the country, Alberta offers a high quality of life that’s hard to find elsewhere.
We’ve taken a look at some statistics and compiled a list of the 10 best places to live in Alberta:
10. Banff.
9. Lethbridge.
8. Camrose.
7. Jasper.
6. Medicine Hat.
5. Canmore.
4. Strathcona County.
3. Calgary.
2. Edmonton.

국회, 광역의원 증원·선거구 획정 법안 '지각 처리'
On June 13th Koreans will head to the polls for local elections.
And better late than never,... rival lawmakers managed to pass a re-districting bill on Monday... the 100 day countdown to polling day.

Electoral district (Canada)
An electoral district in Canada, also known as a "constituency" or a "riding", is a geographical constituency upon which Canada's representative democracy is based. It is officially known in Canadian French as a circonscription, but frequently called a comté .Each federal electoral district returns one Member of Parliament to the Canadian House of Commons; each provincial or territorial electoral district returns one representative — called, depending on the province or territory, Member of the Legislative Assembly , Member of the National Assembly , Member of Provincial Parliament or Member of the House of Assembly — to the provincial or territorial legislature. While electoral districts in Canada are now exclusively single-member districts, multiple-member districts have been used at the federal and provincial levels.

The People's National Movement 's Kelvon Morris won the Darrel Spring/Whim Electoral District.
This, according to a statement from the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) after recounts were done on the request of the Progressive Democratic Patriots for the Electoral District of Darrel Spring/Whim.
The PNM also requested a recount in the Electoral District of Buccoo/Mount Pleasant.
Thus, the preliminary results shows the Progressive Democratic Patriots winning the Tobago House of Assembly elections having captured 14 of the 15 Electoral Districts contested.
The EBC says there was a voter turn-out of 57% as 29,273 votes were cast from an electorate of 51,383.
Why some Americans’ votes count more than others.
Become a Vox member: https://www.vox.com/support-now
In the 2000 US presidential election, the Democratic candidate got half a million more votes than the Republican. The Democrat lost. Sixteen years later the same thing happened again. In the US, if you run for president, it does not actually matter how many people in the country vote for you. What matters instead is an arcane system for selecting America’s head of state called the Electoral College.
The Electoral College is the reason the US has something called “swing states,” and it’s the reason those places get to decide the future of the country. It’s the reason presidential candidates almost never campaign in the country’s biggest cities.
