Albert Champion (27 December 1851 – 30 June 1909) was an Englishfirst-class cricketer, who appeared for both Yorkshire and Lancashire over the course of fifteen years of sporadic appearances.
Born in Hollins End, Handsworth, Yorkshire, England, Champion played fourteen games for Yorkshire between 1876 and 1879, and reappeared for a single game for Lancashire against Nottinghamshire in 1886. He played three more first-class games for Liverpool and District in 1889 and 1890, two against his native county.
A left-handed batsman, he scored 218 runs at a lowly 8.07, with a best of 29 against Yorkshire. He took one wicket for Yorkshire, against Kent with his right arm medium pace, at a cost of 17 runs.
Albert Champion (5 April 1878 Paris—26 October 1927 Paris) was a French track bicycle racer who won the 1899 Paris–Roubaix. . In 1905 he incorporated the Albert Champion Company in Boston to make porcelain spark plugs with his name on them. Three years later founded the Champion Ignition Company in Flint, Michigan. In 1922 he changed the name to AC Spark Plug Company, after his initials, to settle out of court with his original partners in the Albert Champion Company (documented in Peter Joffre Nye's new biography, The Fast Times of Albert Champion: From Record-Setting Racer to Dashing Tycoon, An Untold Story of Speed, Success, and Betrayal (Prometheus Books, 2014), .
Cycling
Albert Champion was a talented racing cyclist at the end of the 19th century. His win in Paris–Roubaix (see below) came as a surprise because he had been known as a velodrome rider.
U.S. Cycling historian and author Peter Joffre Nye explains that after Champion won Paris-Roubaix he received a contract from a bicycle manufacturer in Boston to race in America for the 1900 season. The offer coincided when Champion received orders to report for compulsory conscription, which could have meant up to seven years in the army.

The Bike Collection • Niels Albert's 2013 World Championship Colnago
Niels Albert is a two-time winner of the World Cyclocross Championship, 2009 in Hoogerheide, The Netherlands and 2012 in Koksijde, Belgium. For the 2013 season Albert rode a fleet of Colnago Prestige bicycles and closed his season in the United States at the World Championships held in Louisville, Kentucky.
Perhaps the team staff not wanting to take the full fleet back home again or perhaps some other deal made in the pits led to this gem finding its way to Dave. This is not a replica bike or a team edition model, this is the bike ridden by the champ. Even the mud is championship mud from the 2013 race won by Albert's fellow Belgian Sven Nys.

The Massi cyclist defeated the Spanish champion, Valero, and the Frenchman Dubau.
The Santa Susanna layout is technical, fun and tough. With the light rains of the last few days, the track was a slippery spot, which meant it had to go very fine on the trails. A more demanding point on the physical plane and a greater technical difficulty.
A day where the strongest and most skilled bikers had a chance to show off their qualities. Luckily, during the races the weather followed and not a drop fell, the sun shone and the track, almost without mud, did maintain very fast trail...

Luckily, during the races the weather followed and not a drop fell, the sun shone and the track, almost without mud, did maintain very fast trails to set up a spectacular race.
Just getting out, the pace was hectic. Valero tried to lead the group from the start. It was anticipated that some favorite might take off. So it was, in the early stages, the Dutch champion, Milan Vader (KMC-Orbea), took a small hole. Only Dubau (Massi) was able to follow his wheel.
Behind, Griot, Valero, Koretzky, Mantecón. The groups were breaking up. The race was getting very tough.
Halfway through the race, Griot managed to reach Vader and did not hesitate to attack. No one could believe the speed and power the cyclist was demonstrating. Valero, in second place, wanted to catch him, to contest his victory.
However, Griot never doubted his chances and kept the margin to reach the finish line, celebrating his great victory. Valero (BH Temple Cafés) and Joshua Dubau (Massi) completed the podium. KMC-Orbea cyclists Vader and Koretzky closed out the TOP 5.
Massi's under-23 world champion Loana Lecomte showed her best version and gave no choice to her rivals. The Massi got a double, thanks to the second position of Julie Bresset. Janika Loiv completed the podium.
The crucial moment of the season is approaching and cyclists are aware that they have to take the best point competitively.
The more than six kilometers of track that has it all while recovering the essence of the real mountain bike would be the judge of the race. Twisted trails, hard ascents and a long final descent that makes it one of the most complete circuits on the calendar. Hard, fun and natural.
From the first moment, it was seen how Lecomte wanted to prove his potential. The young French cyclist escaped the Start Loop. And from that moment on, it was expanding its advantage.
Lecomte was tracing each of the paths perfectly and ascending spectacularly. All the cyclists suffered and tried not to waste time.
But the Massi cyclist did not relax at any time and reached the finish line, enjoying her great victory at the UCI C1 in Santa Susanna, stopping the clock in 1:10:28. In addition to two minutes came the second-placed, also from Massi, Julie Bresset; and Estonian champion Janika Loiv of the Hawaii Express completed the podium.
With today's results, Loiv is placed as the overall leader of the Continental Super Cup Massi 2021.
To close the day, the time trial put an end to the first day of competitions over the weekend. Mario Sinués of TBikes BH Amunt was the strongest.
A vibrant race, with countless alternatives, which concluded the two days of mountain biking lived in the town of Santa Susanna.
