Porter Wayne Wagoner (August 12, 1927 – October 28, 2007) was a popular American country music singer known for his flashy Nudie and Manuel suits and blond pompadour.
In 1967, he introduced then-obscure singer Dolly Parton on his long-running television show, and they were a well-known vocal duo throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Known as Mr. Grand Ole Opry, Wagoner charted 81 singles from 1954–1983. He was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2002.
Wagoner was born in West Plains, Missouri, the son of Bertha May (née Bridges) and Charles E. Wagoner, a farmer. His first band, the Blue Ridge Boys, performed on radio station KWPM-AM from a butcher shop in his native West Plains, Missouri where Wagoner cut meat. In 1951, he was hired by Si Siman as a performer on KWTO in Springfield, Missouri. This led to a contract with RCA Victor.
With lagging sales, Wagoner and his trio played schoolhouses for the gate proceeds; but in 1953, his song "Trademark" became a hit for Carl Smith, followed by a few hits of his own for RCA Victor. Starting in 1955, he was a featured performer on ABC-TV's Ozark Jubilee in Springfield, Missouri. He often appeared on the show as part of the Porter Wagoner Trio with Don Warden and Speedy Haworth. Warden, on steel guitar, became Wagoner's long-time business manager. In 1957, Wagoner and Warden moved to Nashville, Tennessee, joining the Grand Ole Opry.
After All! is a one-act comic opera with a libretto by Frank Desprez and music by Alfred Cellier. It was first performed at the Savoy Theatre under the management of Richard D'Oyly Carte, along with H.M.S. Pinafore and another short piece, Cups and Saucers, from December 1878 to February 1880.
During the original run of After All, in 1879, Richard D'Oyly Carte, Gilbert and Sullivan broke up the "Comedy Opera Company" that they had formed in 1877 to present the Gilbert and Sullivan operas. The former directors of the that company staged a rival version Pinafore, along with After All, but their versions were not as popular as Carte's. Later, After All played with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company children's Pinafore (and In the Sulks), from February to March 1880; with The Mikado from November 1895 to March 1896; with The Grand Duke from April to July 1896; with The Mikado from July to August 1896; and with The Yeomen of the Guard from May to June 1897. The piece was also performed on tour on numerous occasions until at least 1909, including a 1908 touring revival.

Secret Messages is the eleventh studio album by Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), released in 1983 through Jet Records. It was the last ELO album with bass guitarist Kelly Groucutt, conductor Louis Clark, and real stringed instruments, and the last ELO album to be released on Jet Records. It was also the final ELO studio album to become a worldwide top 40 hit upon release.
The record was originally planned to be a double album, but was thwarted by Jet's distributor, CBS Records, claiming that producing a double vinyl album would be too expensive, and as a result, leader Jeff Lynne had to reduce it to a single album. This version of the album was digitally recorded and was to have been ELO's first compact disc. Six of the songs from the intended double album appeared as B-sides and reappeared on the Afterglow box set in 1990, including a string-laden eight-minute long tribute to the band's home town (Birmingham) entitled "Hello My Old Friend". Some of the tracks reappeared on the 2001 re-issue of the album. "Endless Lies", which had been altered for its inclusion on the subsequently-released Balance of Power album, appears in its original 1983 form on the 2001 remaster of this album.

Porter Wagoner sings 'Green, Green Grass of Home' at the Porter Wagoner Show in 1972. This has been a #4 country hit for Porter in 1965. Songwriter was Claude 'Curly' Putman Jr. Lyric: The old hometown looks the same as I step down from the train And there to meet me is my mama and papa And down the road I look and there runs Mary hair of gold and lips like cherries It's good to touch the green green grass of home Yes they'll all come to meet me arms areached smiling sweetly It's so good to touch the green green grass of home The old house is still standing though the paint is cracked and dry And there's that old oak tree that I used to play on Down the lane I walk with my sweet Mary hair of gold and lips like cherries It's good to touch the green green grass of home Then I awake and lo...

Take me far across the wide Missoury
To reach where wild oak trees grow tall and slim
To little hillside farm in Hopewell County
Let me see my childhood playgroung once again
It's been a long time since I've seen my homeplace
Wonder if the trees still stand so tall
Wonder they remember how I'm climbing and swing upon the limbs when I was small
When I was just a child I played for hours
On the banks of Southport Creek not far away
Skipping rocks across the water walking barefoot through the meadow
Watching daddy work the fields of new mown hay
So take me far across the wide Missoury
To reach where wild oak trees grow tall and slim
Let me live again those happy childhood mem'ries
Let me see my childhood playground once again
Mom would always tell me don't go swimmin'
Son there's turtles in that water mean as sin
But I slipped far away behind the willows then as naked as jailbird I jumped in
So take me far across...
Oh let me see my childhood playground once again
