A la seconde
(French pronunciation:[a la səɡɔ̃d]) A position of the leg to the side or a movement with the leg held to the side in second position, as in a pirouette à la seconde, in which a dancer turns with the working leg à la hauteur ('elevated') in second position
Also, one of the directions of the body, facing the audience (i.e. en face), arms in second position, with one leg extended to second position.
À la quatrième
(French pronunciation:[a la katʁijɛm]) One of the directions of body, facing the audience (en face), arms in second position, with one leg extended either to fourth position in front (quatrième devant) or fourth position behind (quatrième derrière).
À terre
(French pronunciation:[a tɛʁ]) Touching the floor.
Adagio
Italian, or French adage, meaning 'slowly, at ease.'
Adagio is the performance of partner acrobalance poses and associated movements that involve stationary balances by a pair of performers. It is performed in professional circus, in various dance disciplines including acro dance and ballet, in pair skating, and as a hobby in university circus groups.
An adagio pair consists of one person acting as a flier and another as a base. The base remains in contact with the floor and the flier is balanced in the air. The base may move between a variety of positions including lying on the floor, crouching, standing and kneeling. The flier may be balanced on the base's feet, hands, shoulders, knees, thighs, back or combinations of these, in a variety of positions and orientations including horizontal, vertical or even upside down. In general, it is easier for the flier to be lighter and the base heavier and stronger, though this is not a requirement as equal partner weights or even an imbalance of weights in the other direction can be leveraged.
Lament is the seventh studio album by British new wave band Ultravox, released in the UK on 6 April 1984. It was the last album featuring original drummer Warren Cann until the band's reunion album Brilliant in 2012. The album peaked at #8 on the UK album chart and was certified Gold by the BPI in June 1984 for 100,000 copies sold. It also reached #25 in Germany and #115 in the United States.
The album's sound saw the band continuing to move away from the synthpop style associated with their previous albums, heading into a more mainstream pop rock direction, not entirely dissimilar to contemporaries such as Simple Minds and U2 featuring greater use of guitar and 'stadium' reverb.
The album was re-released on CD in 1999 with seven bonus tracks consisting of various B-sides and remixes from the Lament period.
The album was once again re-released in 2009 as a double CD set. The first disc consisted of the original album remastered. The second disc contained remixes, B-sides and previously unreleased "work in progress" versions of songs.
"Mother" is a song by American heavy metal band Danzig. It was originally released in August 1988 as the lead single from their debut album, Danzig.
In 1993–1994, almost six years after its original release, a remixed version of the song titled "Mother '93" became a hit on radio and earned Buzz Bin rotation on MTV after a music video incorporating live footage was created to promote the band's new EP, Thrall: Demonsweatlive. During this time the single was reissued by American Recordings, with the remix title updated to "Mother '94" on later versions.
Following the success of "Mother", Glenn Danzig recalled writing the song: “I remember calling Rick Rubin in the middle of the night and telling him that I wrote an incredible song—probably the best song I'd ever written. It was the song I always wanted to write. The first time we played it, people went crazy. But I never wrote that song to make it a hit—I never wrote that way, and I still don't. I write songs so that they say something and do something, and if people like them, great—and if they don't, they don't.”
"Mother" is the fifth single by Japanese rock band Luna Sea, released on February 22, 1995. The song reached number 5 on the Oricon singles chart. This version of "Mother" is slightly different from the album's. The B-side is a live version of "Déjàvu" recorded on December 27, 1994 at the Nippon Budokan.
Mother is the debut album of British band Kubb. It was released on 14 November 2005 in the UK on the Mercury Records label. It reached a peak of #26 the week of 13 February 2006. The album was never released in the US, although some versions have surfaced stateside (these versions removed the track "Bitch," bringing the album down to 11 tracks).

French ballet terms with audio and illustrations
In this video you will find the French ballet terms used in my book "Ballet for Everybody - the Basics of Ballet for Beginners of All Ages". The illustrations here are from the book, but they are by no means meant as instructions - to learn ballet you have to have the book. Here they serve as a memory help. The only purpose of this video is to help people to learn the French terms. This should be especially helpful for people who want to learn ballet (for example with the help of a book) but are not able to attend classes.
Each term is spoken twice, with a little pause during which you can try yourself.

Insight: Ballet Glossary - Spotting
Akane Takada demonstrates the technique of spotting, a crucial skill for being able to execute swift turns on stage.
Spotting: A technique used in turns to maintain balance and direction. The dancer focuses the eyes on a set spot and keeps eye contact with it while turning the body. At the last moment, the dancer whips the head around and reconnects eye contact with the spot. This prevents the dancer becoming dizzy and gives them the appearance of turning very rapidly.

Insight: Ballet glossary - arms and feet
Romany Pajdak, Royal Ballet First Artist, demonstrates arm and feet positions.
Arm and feet positions: Ballet uses strictly defined positions through which most arm movements travel. Ballet dancers must have good natural turnout of the leg from their hip to enable them to stand in first position with the feet turned out to the sides.
