What Went Wrong With HS2?
In 2020, the UK Prime minister, Boris Johnson approved a controversial and massive transport infrastructure project for the country, called HS2. In 2024, after over 15 years of planning. With estimated costs ballooning almost four times to a staggering £106 Billion pounds, and several massive changes to the blueprint, HS2 is still yet to be delivered.
The project was meant to connect the disproportionately populated London with the rest of the UK, including cities like Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds, with the eventual goal of stretching all the way to Scotland. But the project was mired with problems from the start.
The huge environmental costs and damage to England's iconic landscapes and wildlife had protests rising up all over the country. Legal battles ensued, adding years and ten...

HOW MUCH abrasive filaments damage your nozzle!
In this video we'll investigate how 3D printers nozzles wear and how print-quality is affected by that.
I've used brass nozzles with Glow in the Dark and Carbon Fiber filament to find out how and where they wear and what effect that has on print quality. I've also milled open a couple of nozzles to see how they look from the inside.

メキシコ国立人類学博物館へ行ってみた。 National Museum of Anthropology Mexico

Evolution of the Babel Routing Protocol
The Babel Routing protocol was originally designed for unstable networks, and therefore works fairly well in mesh networks. Since it was designed, Babel has evolved to cover new use cases, such as overlay networks and unadministered home networks. It is currently in the final stages of standardisation by the IETF.
In this talk, I will describe the Babel routing protocol, and those of its features that make it work well in unstable and mesh networks. I will then describe some recent extensions and changes to the protocol, and the new applications that they make possible.

The Sailing Octopus and the Invention of the Aquarium with Danna Staaf| WYL Ep. 268
Speaker: Danna Staaf, PhD; Author, Marine Biologist and Octopus Enthusiast, Stanford University
Argonauts, named after the sailors of Greek myth, are the only octopuses with shells and sail-like arm membranes. For thousands of years, people believed that they used their shells like boats and caught the wind with their membranes, but no one knew if the argonauts made their shells or stole them. In the 1830s, pioneering scientist Jeanne Villepreux-Power answered this question by inventing the first aquarium. Unlike any researchers before, she could keep argonauts alive and observed their behavior. She discovered not only the origin of the shell, but also an unexpected use for the “sails.” The remarkable story of the “Lady and the Octopus” is told by author and marine biologist Danna Staff....

Legal battles ensued, adding years and tens of millions of pounds to a budget that was spiralling out of control. It seemed as if the project was doomed to join other great transport engineering follies of the modern age, such as the Moscow Monorail, or the California High Speed Rail.
This is in contrast to China's High-Speed Rail network, the largest rail network in the world. The idea for this was originally floated long after planning for HS2 began in the UK, but quickly overtook it in rollout and delivery.
HS2 would have been completed in just under 2 years at the pace and level of investment. Instead, it labours on, far from the destination it promised, and at four times the predicted cost. Could this be the United Kingdom’s biggest, and most costly, infrastructure blunder ever?

The National Museum of Anthropology (Spanish: Museo Nacional de Antropología, MNA) is a national museum of Mexico. It is the largest and most visited museum in Mexico. Located in the area between Paseo de la Reforma and Mahatma Gandhi Street within Chapultepec Park in #MexicoCity, the museum contains significant archaeological and anthropological artifacts from Mexico's pre-Columbian heritage, such as the Stone of the Sun (or the Aztec calendar stone) and the Aztec Xochipilli statue.
The museum (along with many other Mexican national and regional museums) is managed by the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (National Institute of Anthropology and History), or INAH. It was one of several museums opened by Mexican President Adolfo López Mateos in 1964..
Assessments of the museum vary, with one considering it "a national treasure and a symbol of identity. The museum is the synthesis of an ideological, scientific, and political feat."[4] Octavio Paz criticized the museum's making the Mexica (Aztec) hall central, saying the "exaltation and glorification of Mexico-Tenochtitlan transforms the #Museum of Anthropology into a temple.
Designed in 1964 by Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, Jorge Campuzano, and Rafael Mijares Alcérreca, the monumental building contains exhibition halls surrounding a courtyard with a huge pond and a vast square concrete umbrella supported by a single slender pillar (known as "el paraguas", Spanish for "the umbrella"). The halls are ringed by gardens, many of which contain outdoor exhibits. The museum has 23 rooms for exhibits and covers an area of 79,700 square meters (almost 8 hectares) or 857,890 square feet (almost 20 acres).
At the end of the 18th century, by order of the viceroy of Bucareli, the items that formed part of the collection by Lorenzo Boturini — including the sculptures of Coatlicue and the Sun Stone — were placed in the Royal and Pontifical University of Mexico, forming the core of the collection that would become the National Museum of Anthropology.
On August 25, 1790, the Cabinet of Curiosities of Mexico (Gabinete de Historia Natural de México)[note 1] was established by botanist José Longinos Martínez. During the 19th century, the museum was visited by internationally renowned scholars such as Alexander von Humboldt. In 1825, the first Mexican president, Guadalupe Victoria, advised by the historian Lucas Alamán, established the National Mexican Museum as an autonomous institution. In 1865, the Emperor Maximilian moved the museum to Calle de Moneda 13, to the former location of the Casa de Moneda.

#### Summary
The content discusses the theory that America is the "true old world," suggesting that ancient civilizations, myths, and religious symbols have their roots in North America, specifically in a region referred to as "India Superior." The video asserts that civilization originated from this part of the world, challenging mainstream historical narratives and offering evidence ranging from ancient artifacts to maps and religious texts.
#### Highlights
- 🌍 The presenter claims that all life and civilization originated from "India Superior," a region said to be located in North America.
- 📖 References to the Garden of Eden and four rivers in the Bible are cited as evidence that civilization originated in the North.
- 🏺 The discovery of over 2,600 Egyptian-style artifacts in Mexico dated over 50,000 years old challenges the conventional historical timeline.
- 🗺️ Several ancient maps label America as "India" and the "Orient," questioning established geographical concepts.
- ✝️ Religious symbols like the Christian Cross and the Swastika are argued to have their origins in Mount Meru, identified as the Arctic North Pole.
- 🌟 The Pole Star (Polaris) is said to be the central axis where universal life force emanates from, linked to spiritual figures like Lord Brahma and Abraham.
- 🐢 The American landmass was known as Turtle Island, aligning with Hindu mythology and further supporting the notion that ancient India was located in North America.

She discovered not only the origin of the shell, but also an unexpected use for the “sails.” The remarkable story of the “Lady and the Octopus” is told by author and marine biologist Danna Staff.
