Although it lies approximately twice as far away from the Equator as from the North Pole, the 60th parallel is half as long as the Equator line. This is where the Earth bulges halfway as much as on the Equator.
At this latitude the sun is visible for 18 hours, 52 minutes during the summer solstice and 5 hours, 52 minutes during the winter solstice.

In this video I will be continuing my journey through British Columbia and finally making it to the yukon. Which is located above the 60th parallel. I am from a small town in Michigan set at the 45th parallel. During my journey I have camped at some amazing lake.

Wood bison, the largest land mammal in North America, can often be seen grazing along the Alaska Highway south of Watson Lake.
Known as “The Gateway to the Yukon,” Watson Lake is the first Yukon community on the Alaska Highway when travelling from BC.
Watson Lake is named after Frank Watson, who left California in the 1897 rush for Klondike gold.
Watson Lake is a town in Yukon, Canada, located at mile 635 on the Alaska Highway close to the British Columbia border. The Canada 2016 Census put the population at 790, a drop of 1.5% from 802 in 2011.
The town is named for Frank Watson, an American-born trapper and prospector, who settled in the area at the end of the nineteenth century.
The 60th parallel north is a circle of latitude that is 60 degrees north of Earth's equator. It crosses Europe, Asia, the Pacific Ocean, North America, and the Atlantic Ocean.
Although it lies approximately twice as far away from the Equator as from the North Pole, the 60th parallel is half as long as the Equator line, due to the cosine of 60 degrees being 0.5. This is where the Earth bulges halfway as much as on the Equator.
At this latitude, the Sun is visible for 18 hours, 52 minutes during the June solstice and 5 hours, 52 minutes during the December solstice.
The lowest latitude where white nights can be observed is approximately on this parallel.

Target : Traveling around the world
Travel reminds those paying attention that they are not the only man in the world, that this is a huge world and that they are only a small, insignificant human in it. This is quite a leisure experience – to go to another country or another state and see large numbers of peoples living differently, and coming to understand how large the world actually is. When people who learn return home, they keep with them this perspective for the rest of their life and they benefit from this is knowledge and perspective.
Another benefit to traveling is coming to see one’s native country in a different light, in a different way. This is done through being able to compare and contrast home from a foreign location, done most always through traveling.
