The Time The NFL Draft Was ALMOST CANCELED
It's hard to imagine the NFL not holding its annual draft. But when it came to the 1943 NFL Draft, due to World War II, we were one vote away from that scenario playing out
Due to the exodus of players who had left to serve in World War II, the Cleveland Rams were granted permission to suspend operations for this season, while the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers merged for this one season, with the combined team (known as Phil-Pitt and called the "Steagles" by fans) playing four home games in Philadelphia and two in Pittsburgh. With only 8 teams playing, the 1943 season ties the 1932 season for the fewest teams in the league.

The 1969 Draft Lottery (Vietnam War)
The first-ever televised draft lottery, December 1, 1969...which was held for young men born between Jan 1, 1944 - Dec 31, 1950.
Each birthday pulled corresponds with a draft number. The lower the number, the higher chance you'll be drafted.
In fact, in this televised 1969 draft, anyone who received a number lower than 196 (1-195) were called to report. 307,276 were called to report. Half of those who reported (162,746) were actually inducted. The rest were rejected due to various reasons (physical, college students, legal, etc).
A draft was held every year after this until 1973, when it converted to an all-volunteer military.

The WORST TRADE of ALL TIME
The Carolina Panthers' shocking trade for Bryce Young sent shockwaves through the NFL, and it didn't end well. They traded away DJ Moore and crucial NFL draft picks to secure Young, but it all went downhill. The decision led to the firing of head coach Frank Reich. It all began with the owner's idea to pass on CJ Stroud for Bryce Young.
