Shooting the .416 Rigby Rifle Review
I love seeing rounds that were designed for a certain application (this one being dangerous game) that are old, and still one of the best. That's the .416 Rigby. Originally released in 1911 by Englishman John Rigby, it's still one of the most successful early smokeless powder rounds to date.

Rigby X Field Ethos - The Rogue Rifle
If you grew up reading stories of big game hunting adventures around the world, the name Rigby was etched into boyhood dreams of one day setting off into the unknown. Rigby was a rifle carried by fearless men of grit who lived life on their own terms, and it survives today as an aspirational brand for the truly bold.
For those of us who held on to those dreams and now pursue the adventure hunting lifestyle in today’s modern world, we are a dying breed. Those dreams turned reality are unpopular. We are brutes. We are relics. We are Rogues. But a Rogue has never concerned himself with the opinions of others.
The Rigby Rogue series embodies the spirit of adventure. You will find no safe queens carrying this moniker. No gold, no engraved scenes, nothing extravagant. These are hard-use rifles...

These are hard-use rifles made to be carried into uncharted places by men who will stand behind them as they accomplish iconic feats in the wilds.
Our goal with the Field Ethos Rogue .416 Rigby Big Game rifle was not to reinvent a perfect wheel. We kept the rifle understated while using Rigby’s original lettering for the Field Ethos script on the floorplate. We chose a double square bridge Mauser action for optional magnified optics. We added a leather wrapped recoil pad as a nod to the past. The 24” barreled actions are mated to grade V walnut stocks. We included a bottle opener in the grip cap for post-hunt celebration. Even the safety is marked to signify the FE mantra of Safety 3rd.
Every Field Ethos Rogue rifle is built to be used and to wear the scars of adventure -each with their own story so that one day these rifles will be passed down as a reminder to those who follow that great adventure still exists for the bold. This is a rifle to inspire generations of Rogues to come.

Who is Ron Spomer
For 44 years I’ve had the good fortune to photograph and write about my passion – the outdoor life. Wild creatures and wild places have always stirred me – from the first flushing pheasant that frightened me out of my socks in grandpa’s cornfield to the last whitetail that dismissed me with a wag of its tail. In my attempts to connect with this natural wonder, to become an integral part of our ecosystem and capture a bit of its mystery, I’ve photographed, hiked, hunted, birded, and fished across much of this planet. I've seen the beauty that everyone should see, survived adventures that everyone should experience. I may not have climbed the highest mountains, canoed the wildest rivers, caught the largest fish or shot the biggest bucks, but I’ve tried. Perhaps you have, too. And that’s the essential thing. Being out there, an active participant in our outdoor world.
