I understand the block is related to the original username, which I'm requested be updated because it has similarity to an external website. I am currently updating records of BIPOC artists with information not already included in their articles, citing museum and gallery web pages, as well as any recent online articles covering them and their work. For instance, Brumsic Brandon Jr.'s page could be demonstrably improved by specifically including mention of his years of work in the publication Freedomways, that he and his daughter are the first father and daughter to be nationally syndicated in the mainstream press, his self-published work that was lauded by Langston Hughes, etc. I'm also planning to update Bianca Xunise's page so that they are no longer misgendered, i.e. to correct their pronouns throughout as well as the citation of them being "the second Black woman cartoonist" to be syndicated b/c they are nonbinary and prefer to be known as the first nonbinary cartoonist to be nationally syndicated, as well as to cite news of their recent museum exhibitions as well as their forthcoming debut graphic novel. I'm a writer and arts enthusiast who has contributed to Hello Barkada among other outlets. I have no association with the subject of my recent edits outside of being a fan of Brandon-Croft's work and her impact on comics and journalism (I was in the middle of making corresponding edits in her father's article since it seems logical to update his article next.) In general, I'm a fan of the subjects of my edits, and someone who has and continues to educate themself on the contributions of artists and writers from historically marginalized communities. Now, since you're acknowledging a conflict of interest with respect to Hello Barkada, would you agree to a restriction on making any mainspace edits about Hello Barkada and related topics? I reviewed the linked mainspace article; thanks for sharing it as I'm still new to this side of Wikipedia. Are you saying that since I have been transparent, admins would like to restrict me from authoring and publishing a Wikipedia article about Hello Barkada?

Also, could you clarify what you mean by "related topics"? Are admins also asking that I restrict myself from authoring Wikipedia articles about artists, writers, and works from BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and disabled communities that do not currently exist on this platform if they've ever or will be covered on Hello Barkada? I'm saying that an unblock here would likely have to come with a requirement to comply with our conflict of interest (COI) guideline. Is that a punishment for being honest? I guess you could see it that way, but I'd rather see it as asking you to follow the same rules the rest of us do. Here's me following the COI guideline: [1] [2] [3] [4]. As to scope, yes, "related topics" is too broad. I would be comfortable unblocking with a restriction on mainspace edits regarding Hello Barkada and people affiliated with it. We generally say that any editing restriction is construed broadly, so I would say those are both covered.
