[edit]You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:
- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:41, 9 September 2022 (UTC)- I have provided a proposed new username, a reason for it, and an unblock appeal as requested. I am in no way spamming, advertising, promoting, etc. Would it be possible to get a timeline on when review my request and appeal will be reviewed? HelloBarkada (talk) 19:30, 9 September 2022 (UTC)

What is your association with HelloBardaka and/or the subject of your edits? 331dot (talk) 23:19, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
- I'm a writer and arts enthusiast who has contributed to Hello Barkada among other outlets. I have no association with the subject of my recent edits outside of being a fan of Brandon-Croft's work and her impact on comics and journalism (I was in the middle of making corresponding edits in her father's article since it seems logical to update his article next.) In general, I'm a fan of the subjects of my edits, and someone who has and continues to educate themself on the contributions of artists and writers from historically marginalized communities. I'd prefer to share the knowledge I gather with as many people as possible. HelloBarkada (talk) 00:52, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- Going to defer action for now due to my present time limitations. Any other admin, feel free to act. 331dot (talk) 01:31, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
Could you explain the meaning of your requested username? The inclusion of "CJPN" makes me worried it might still be referencing a company's name. (To get a faster response, use the markup {{ping|Tamzin}}
when replying.) -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 16:33, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- Those are a mixup of the initials of my full name. HelloBarkada (talk) 01:45, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- Would you prefer maartebaytobay? Maarte is tagalog for fancy. HelloBarkada (talk) 01:48, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- That works, yes. Now, since you're acknowledging a conflict of interest with respect to Hello Barkada, would you agree to a restriction on making any mainspace edits about Hello Barkada and related topics? You would still be allowed to request edits relating to it. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 01:56, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- I reviewed the linked mainspace article; thanks for sharing it as I'm still new to this side of Wikipedia. Are you saying that since I have been transparent, admins would like to restrict me from authoring and publishing a Wikipedia article about Hello Barkada?
- Also, could you clarify what you mean by "related topics"? Are admins also asking that I restrict myself from authoring Wikipedia articles about artists, writers, and works from BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and disabled communities that do not currently exist on this platform if they've ever or will be covered on Hello Barkada? HelloBarkada (talk) 17:43, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- I'm saying that an unblock here would likely have to come with a requirement to comply with our conflict of interest (COI) guideline. Is that a punishment for being honest? I guess you could see it that way, but I'd rather see it as asking you to follow the same rules the rest of us do. Here's me following the COI guideline: [1] [2] [3] [4]. As to scope, yes, "related topics" is too broad. I would be comfortable unblocking with a restriction on mainspace edits regarding Hello Barkada and people affiliated with it. Would that be amenable to you? -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 18:16, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- Note also that, under our policy WP:BANEX, you would still be allowed to revert any obvious vandalism or obvious violations of our policy on biographies of living persons, even if they would normally be covered by that restriction. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 18:19, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks for the clarifications. So, with regards to my examples, do you view Bianca Xunise as affiliated, and Brumsic Brandon Jr. as not affiliated? HelloBarkada (talk) 23:51, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- We generally say that any editing restriction is construed broadly, so I would say those are both covered. Perhaps—third try's the charm—the best way to phrase this is mainspace edits regarding Hello Barkada and people
affiliated withrelated to it. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 09:40, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

- Due to a family emergency, I've not kept up with or prioritized this string, nor will I. Do as you see fit. Thanks everyone. HelloBarkada (talk) 19:17, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
- Of course, what your priorities are is something only you can decide. I would hope that you prioritize your family over Wikipedia. Whenever you want to request unblock again, this will be here. There is no deadline. Best wishes. 331dot (talk) 19:30, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
