The situation of Whitmonday in France is more complicated than layed out in the document. As of 2008 it has become once again a holiday, (Lundi de Pentecôte) but the day of solidarity (journée de solidarité) for the elderly and dependent people is still due. People can opt to work on this day, or to give up another holiday, or work 7 hours (one work day) extra depending on their workplace. See Journée de solidarité envers les personnes âgées. Reading French is slow going for me. The article seems to be saying that from 2004 to 2007, you had to work on Whit Monday in France, but you didn't get paid for it. Instead, the money you would have earned went to finance services for the elderly. Is that right? —Angr 10:01, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly, and now it is once again a holiday, but you still have to give up one day's wages per year. Chris CII (talk) 11:10, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that's definitely worth mentioning, if it can be sourced. —Angr 16:26, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Liechtenstein?

[edit]

"In Liechtenstein, Whit Monday is considered to be a "favorite holiday", much like Christmas in many other countries." Is this for real? Liechtenstein is not mentioned in the German Wikipedia article on Pentecost, and a quick Google search for "Pfingsten Liechtenstein" and "Pfingstmontag Liechtenstein" does not reveal any extravagant festivities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.94.16.220 (talk) 15:50, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
