Request to update 2025 awardees

[edit]

Hello,

The Ramsar Wetland Conservation Award for 2025 has been officially announced on the Ramsar website:

https://www.ramsar.org/news/grassroots-action-global-impact-celebrated-2025-ramsar-wetland-awardees-are-named

Would someone be willing to update the "Awards" section of the article to include the 2025 recipients? Thank you! Sedric1212 (talk) 14:27, 15 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

First, can you explain your relationship with Iman Ebrahimi? 100% of your editing has been related to that person. MrOllie (talk) 14:34, 15 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi MrOllie,
Thanks for your message. I’m an environmental activist from Iran, and I’ve always wanted to contribute to Wikipedia by updating, completing, and creating entries related to Iran’s environmental world. But honestly, editing Wikipedia has been very difficult for me—especially because English isn’t my first language.
I’ve made a list of people, places, and events that I believe deserve better coverage or even new articles on Wikipedia, as they could serve as valuable references for others. But if I’m already facing so much difficulty with the first one, I’m not sure how I’ll manage to improve the rest.
Recently, ChatGPT has been a huge help to me—both with language and with understanding how Wikipedia editing works. That’s how I’ve been moving forward, step by step. But because even my early edits are getting rejected, I decided to ask someone else to help with the Ramsar update just to understand what I’m doing wrong.
I just want to get it right so I can keep working on more pages like Touran National Park, Hamid Zohrabi, Iran’s National Environment Award, and others.
Thanks again for your time, Sedric1212 (talk) 15:24, 15 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'll note first that you did not actually respond to the comment I made. Here it is again: 'First, can you explain your relationship with Iman Ebrahimi? 100% of your editing has been related to that person.'
Second, you should know that Wikipedia editors to not look kindly on the use of ChatGPT or other AI text generators, especially on talk pages - people are here to communicate with other humans, not with bots. You should write in your own words or not at all. If you do not feel confident enough in your English language skills to contribute to Wikipedia without AI assistance, there is a Wikimedia project in your native language - you should contribute there instead. Hi MrOllie,
Thank you again. I’d like to clarify: I don’t have any personal or financial connection with Iman Ebrahimi. I just started with this topic because it’s the most recent, verifiable event connected to conservation in Iran, where I’m from. I’m hoping to build and improve more pages after I get this process right.
Regarding ChatGPT, I’m not using it to write articles for me. I’m using it to help me better understand Wikipedia formatting, language, and rules — similar to how some users might rely on spellcheck or grammar tools.
My only goal is to contribute useful content about underrepresented environmental topics.
If I did something wrong, please just tell me! Sedric1212 (talk) 16:21, 15 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
ChatGPT frequently provides incorrect information - this is a widely known drawback of AI technologies. If you rely on it to 'better understand' anything, you will find yourself carrying those errors forward. MrOllie (talk) 16:38, 15 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, MrOllie. I understand your concern, and I’ll be careful with fact-checking everything.Appreciate your time. Sedric1212 (talk) 16:49, 15 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
