This article should adhere to the gender identity guideline because it contains material about one or more transgender people. Precedence should be given to self-designation as reported in the most up-to-date reliable sources, anywhere in article space, even when it doesn't match what's most common in reliable sources. Any person whose gender might be questioned should be referred to by the pronouns, possessive adjectives, and gendered nouns (for example "man/woman", "waiter/waitress", "chairman/chairwoman") that reflect that person's latest expressed gender self-identification. Some people go by singular they pronouns, which are acceptable for use in articles. This applies in references to any phase of that person's life, unless the subject has indicated a preference otherwise. Former, pre-transition names may only be included if the person was notable while using the name; outside of the main biographical article, such names should only appear once, in a footnote or parentheses. If material violating this guideline is repeatedly inserted, or if there are other related issues, please report the issue to the LGBTQ+ WikiProject, or, in the case of living people, to the BLP noticeboard.

Why is she excluded from this list? And it's a cruel example on the hate crime and violence against black trans women in the US. I have included her on the German wikipedia page of this topic. --Melly42 (talk) 20:12, 11 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing in either of the sources provided saying that Brandy Martell was killed for being transgender, which is the criterion for being included in this article, so I am deleting this entry from the article. Sweet6970 (talk) 15:09, 16 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The sources provided for this case do not say that Sam Nordquist was killed for being transgender, which is the criterion for being included in this article, so I am deleting this entry from the article. Sweet6970 (talk) 15:20, 16 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Melly42: I have read the source you provided regarding this death. I did not find any statement in the text that she was killed for being transgender. The headline does not count for this purpose – see WP:HEADLINES. Can you provide another source which says she was killed for being transgender? Sweet6970 (talk) 22:06, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, if you're that strict, you'd have to remove Liddy Bacroff from the list as well. She wasn't killed because she was trans, but because she was considered a gay man (Paragraph 175). The surgeon who performed Lili Elbe's gender reassignment surgery was a member of the Nazi Party and I think he was very good at distinguishing whether someone was trans or gay. --Melly42 (talk) 08:59, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I’m not being strict, I’m trying to keep the article in line with its subject. If Liddy Bancroft was not killed for being trans, then she should not appear in this article. Sweet6970 (talk) 16:06, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've added additional sources for Millerey's death as well, it seems to be more well-documented in Spanish sources.
With regards to Liddy Bacroff -- all the sources linked to her in both life and death make explicit references to her (with outdated terminology) as a trans woman, not a gay man. (Her name would also seem a clear indicator, no?) See https://raumdernamen.mauthausen-memorial.org/?id=4&p=52894# .
The Nazi Party very specifically cracked down on transgender folks in addition to gay men, including specifically targeting those who had previously been issued "transvestite passes". I'm not sure if your claim is that the Nazi Party did not see any functional difference between gay men and trans women (which seems false, but at which point, any murderer who does not believe trans women are women would have their victims excised from this list. which seems un-useful), or that Liddy specifically was a gay man, but would love to see a source for either. Both seem to lack credence from what I've seen? AmityCity (talk) 22:01, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
