Barry, the dog
[edit]German Wikipedia has a seperate article on the dog discussing the dispute if and when the dog was violent and not. Some people described the dog as very peaceful. (I tend to to agree that the dog's behavior may vary strongly depending on the owner) Andries (talk) 20:41, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- German Wikipedia article on the dog of Kurt Franz. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_(Mischlingshund) Andries (talk) 21:21, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- I've added a {{citation needed}} template for the purported Alexander Donat testimony. -- Deborahjay (talk) 05:57, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Famous Austrian behavioural scientist Prof. Konrad Lorenz has written a 10-page assessment of the dog in the Treblinka trial on behalf of the court. https://phdn.org/archives/holocaust-history.org/german-trials/treblinka-urteil.shtml
The whole thing seems suspicious
[edit]So the inmates petted the dog when the commandant wasn't around? Why not kill the dog if he was such a terror? And why would such a pedantic Nazi, as the Nazis often were known for their strict regimen and fastidiousness, ever leave his dog to run free - being a trained, and therefore, valuable dog? The whole thing seems embellished - like some kind of rumor. I would seriously question the sources, and possibly suspend the section in deference to the almost certainly more accurate German article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.72.223.47 (talk) 18:49, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
"Beautiful Years"
[edit]His photo album was named "Schöne Zeiten" and that does not mean "The Most Beautiful Years of My Life" - it means just "Beautiful Years" :) --194.228.24.200 (talk) 10:42, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
There is a photo book of Treblinka. According to Vad Vashem there was a zoo there. Anyone know where the photos can be viewed? It's hard to believe that this most foul of criminals was treated so leniently. Someone must have thought something was amiss in the indictment. 159.105.81.168 (talk) 20:12, 7 November 2013 (UTC) It's common pattern in most of trials of Nazis. German courts were, and still are, very lenient towards them. Killers can simply declare they were 'just following orders' or they were 'fighting communism' and they were let go.
- Goodness, there are people serving longer sentences in the U.S. under the Three Strikes Law for stealing a pizza! Kill 300,000 and get humanitarian release after 30 years. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.242.248.88 (talk) 22:07, 20 February 2016 (UTC)
