Article English quality

[edit]

The article reads like it has been literally translated from Japanese. It's beyond my purview to fix it, but several sections are ungrammatical and/or unclear. 99.116.23.134 (talk) 00:23, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Shinbutsu bunri (神仏分離)

[edit]

The lack of any substantial mention of shinbutsu bunri, and a description of how Hachiman "merged" with Amitabha in a "syncretistic" practice, both make this a disinforming page. There is no mention of the state-motivated intervention, especially in light of Hachiman being reframed as a literal spirit of the state. Particularly the forcible defrocking of priests who worshipped Buddhist gods in Shinto shrines in efforts to invigorate Japanese nationalism isn't adequately mentioned here at all. 86.29.212.223 (talk) 11:39, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
