The 2025 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup will be the 13th edition of Women's Cricket World Cup. It is scheduled to be hosted in India.[1] This will be the fourth time that India are going to host the tournament after the 1978, 1997 and 2013 edition. This will be the last time that the tournament will have 8 teams.[2] Australia are the defending champions having previously won their 7th title in 2022.
Background
[edit]Neutral venue arrangements
[edit]On 19 December 2024, following an agreement between BCCI and PCB, the ICC in an update issued on India and Pakistan hosted matches at ICC events, established that the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 (hosted by India) will be played across India and a neutral venue. The ICC board confirmed that India and Pakistan matches hosted by either country at ICC Events during the 2024-2027 rights cycle will be played at a neutral venue.[3] But since Pakistan has not qualified directly for this tournament and has qualified for the 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier, so a neutral venue would be decided only if Pakistan qualifies for the tournament.
