The Sabine River (/səˈbiːn/; Alibamu: Sabìina, Sabìnka ) is a river, 510 miles (820km) long, in the U.S. states of Texas and Louisiana. In its lower course, it forms part of the boundary between the two states and empties into Sabine Lake, an estuary of the Gulf of Mexico. The river formed part of the United States-Mexican as well as the United States-Republic of Texasinternational boundary during the early 19thcentury. The upper reaches of the river flow through the prairie country of northeast Texas. Along much of its lower reaches, it flows through pine forests along the Texas-Louisiana border, and the bayou country near the Gulf Coast. The river drains an area of 9,756 square miles (25,270km2), of which 7,426 square miles (19,230km2) is in Texas and 2,330 square miles (6,000km2) in Louisiana. It flows through an area of abundant rainfall and discharges the largest volume of any river in Texas. The name Sabine (Sp: Río de Sabinas) comes from the Spanish word for cypress, in reference to the extensive growth of bald cypresses along the lower river. The river flows through an important petroleum-producing region, and the lower river near the Gulf is among the most industrialized areas of the southeastern United States. The river was often described as the dividing line between the Old South and the New Southwest.
The Texas was built in October 1856 for the Western & Atlantic Railroad by locomotive manufacturer Danforth, Cooke and Company in Paterson, New Jersey. It was subsequently shipped from Paterson to the Port of Savannah, traveled the Georgia Rail Road & Banking Company and Macon & Western Railroad, before finally being delivered to the W&A headquarters in Atlanta that same year.
Texas Homecare was a chain of DIY stores in the United Kingdom and Ireland, that operated from 1972 until 1999.
History
Texas Homecare was established in 1972, by Manny, Sydney and Gerald Fogel, who had previously founded the high street specialist paint and wallpaper chain Home Charm. Taking their lead from America, they revolutionised the United Kingdom DIY market, with the introduction of the 'DIY shed' style outlet. Mervyn Fogel, co-founder and managing director for over 25 years, had a vision of turning the small family business into a DIY retail empire.
Texas specialised in higher volume, lower margin DIY products. The company had been adversely affected, by a recession and depressed housing market.
Acquisition
With its acquisition, Homebase hoped to hold around 10% of the total DIY market in the United Kingdom. In May 1995, it was announced that only 26 Texas stores were to close, with limited redundancies. Sainsbury's found that full conversion to the Homebase format was an investment worth making, and allowed £50million for the task.
The route was originally planned by 1926 as connector between Dallas and Rhome. By 1933, SH 114 extended to Bridgeport. By 1939, this section was completed, with an extension northward from Chico to Sunset. This route remained little changed until 1973, when it was extended northward from Sunset to Bowie. Major rerouting was made in 1976, when the route was redirected west over U.S. Highway 380, U.S. Highway 281, former SH 199, and U.S. Highway 82 from Bridgeport to Lubbock, with the stretch from Bridgeport to Bowie transferred to SH 101. In 1977, the route was extended to the New Mexico border, connecting to it sister New Mexico State Highway 114, replacing State Highway 116. SH 116 was originally was planned in 1926 to go from Dallas to Gunter. This route became an extension of SH 14 by 1936.
CenterPoint Energy Plaza (formerly Houston Industries Plaza) is a 741 feet (226m) tall building in downtown Houston. The original building, finished in 1974, stood at 651 feet (198m), but a 90-foot (27m) extension was added as part of a 1996 renovation. Designed by Richard Keating, this renovation dramatically changed the building, the Houston Skyline and the downtown. Keating was also the designer of the nearby Wells Fargo Tower. It has the headquarters of CenterPoint Energy.
Historically the building housed the headquarters of Houston Industries (HI) and subsidiary Houston Lighting & Power (HL&P). In 1999 Houston Industries changed its name to Reliant Energy. When Reliant Energy moved out of the building and moved into the new Reliant Energy Plaza in 2003, the company left over 400,000 square feet (37,000m2) of space vacant.
Around 1995 the building owners added a circle-shaped canopy that is five stories tall. Clifford Pugh of the Houston Chronicle wrote that "It was meant to resemble a lantern, but at night the lit open space looks more like a hovering spaceship."
1500 Louisiana Street, formerly Enron Center South, is a 600ft (183m) tall skyscraper in Houston, Texas. It was completed in 2002 and has 40 floors. It is the 17th tallest building in the city and the tallest completed in the 2000s.
History
Enron, a Houston-based company, had the building constructed to serve as its US headquarters. Due to a scandal in late 2001 the company collapsed and filed for bankruptcy that same year; Enron never occupied the building. Intell Management and Investment Co. paid $102 million for the tower, which came equipped with technology that was, in 2003, the latest for energy firms. Charlie Giammalva of Lincoln Property Co., the leasing company of 1500 Louisiana, said that the building was "zero percent occupied." Giammalva said that the management of the building had contacted several firms, such as ExxonMobil, about the possibility of leasing space in the building. By July 2003 none of the firms contacted the management.
ChevronTexaco bought the building in 2004 for $340 million. By 2005 the firm announced that it would move out of the former Chevron Tower in Houston Center and moved into 1500 Louisiana Street. In 2006 4,000 employees worked in 1500 Louisiana.
Louisiana Highway 442 (LA 442) is a state highway in Louisiana that serves Livingston and Tangipahoa parishes. It spans 23.0 miles (37.0km) in a west to east direction.
Route description
From the west, LA 442 begins at an intersection with LA 63 north of Livingston. It heads east and intersects LA 1036 and LA 441, both of which it overlaps as it crosses various branches of the Tickfaw River. Further east, it intersects LA 43 and LA 1063 before crossing into Tangipahoa Parish. Just west of Tickfaw, LA 442 meets Interstate 55 at a diamond interchange (exit 36) and shortly thereafter, it enters Tickfaw corporate limits and reaches U.S. Route 51. After a southward jog of one block along US 51, LA 442 heads east again and bridges Ponchatoula Creek and intersects LA 1065 before bridging the Tangipahoa River. It ends shortly afterward at an intersection with LA 40 and LA 443 south of Loranger.
LA 442 is an undivided, two lane highway for its entire length.

Exploring Logansport, Louisiana: Small Town Along the Sabine River Near #Texas Border
Take a drive with us around Logansport, Louisiana, which is nestled next to the Sabine River and the border with the state of Texas. We will come into Logansport on LA 764 South, drive through downtown and cross over the Sabine River bridge, then onto US Highway 84 East before we turn onto LA 5 North to leave town. We will pass by many shops, the post office, the fire station, and a local bank. We will see the “ghost sign” for NJ Caraway & Co. and we will get a really good look at it since the speed limit is 25 mph. We will drive over the Sabine River bridge and briefly be in Texas before coming back over the bridge. As we leave Logansport on LA 5, we will drive by the library, a couple of Baptist churches, a Dairy Queen, and the high school. Logansport is in DeSoto parish and has abo...

Sabine River Flooding at Texas - Louisiana Border Route 10
We crossed in to Texas on Route 10 yesterday, 3/14/16. At the border, we crossed the Sabine River, downstream of Shreveport. The river has not crested yet in that area, and we were surprised by how close it was to Rte. 10. I apologize for the quality of the video - not my best effort. If I can make an excuse, it is hard filming from inside a vehicle on a highway. Thanks for watching!
