Sure, you have to order at the window and sit outside or take your food to go, but Pop’s has been serving its Philly-style hoagies since 2002. The standalone restaurant is open 24 hours, so you can visit for lunch or a late-night bite and get your fill of steak sandwiches loaded with peppers, onions, and Cheez Whiz, plus baskets of fried mushrooms, fried okra, jalapeno poppers, and zucchini sticks.

The Goodwich got its start in a kiosk in the parking lot of Dino’s Lounge in Las Vegas. Now the Las Vegas staple serves out stacks of griddles sandwiches, breakfast items, and soups and salads. For a relatively simple sandwich, the GW patty melt with smoked cream cheese on rye pack a punch. Ike Shehadeh created Ike’s Love & Sandwiches out of San Francisco in 2007 and the sandwich shop became known for its Dutch, French, San Francisco sourdough, whole wheat, or gluten-free breads, and secret recipe Dirty Sauce available in more than 700 menu combinations.
