Jim Begley says the newish Indian restaurant Urban Turban "is more gastropub than run-of-the-mill ethnic eatery." He recommends the cream-blanched grilled chicken bites, saying he "couldn’t get enough of" the cheese cream, the paneer tikka ("sharply flavored with a consistency just this side of cheese curds"), and the restaurant’s claim to fame, its never-ending curries. He scraped the bottom of his bowl of butter chicken with naan. For something "a little less mainstream," he recommends parda chicken biryani, which is like an Indian pot pie. [LVW]
Al Mancini heads to David Clawson Restaurant and offers three pieces of advice. He says "pricing can be random," offering examples such as a lamb dish that "was no more than a few forkfuls and still priced at $18." He didn’t think the bread should be $4, "a total price gouge." He recommends making a reservations ("they don’t seem to appreciate walk-ins"). Finally, "be aware of the location…If you don’t spend a lot of time in the Sun City Anthem area, you may have forgotten how far away Bicentennial Parkway is." [VS]
