A rough & tumble guide, based on the pains of experience, of what to do/not do when trying to build an OSS community.
In the process of publishing a failed web framework, two decently successful libraries (Haystack & Tastypie) & running an annual programming competition (Django Dash), I've learned (often the hard way) some of the things you should (& should not do) when trying to get people active in your open-source projects.
The goal of this talk is to try to help others get a jump-start on how to best connect with other people & to avoid some of the soul-crushing pitfalls I've encountered.
