here’s a lot of buzz in Buncombe County about whether they’re playing by the rules, and in Weaverville, they’re delving into the historical Shelton Laurel Massacre. Over in Hendersonville, new youth programs are really pushing musical growth, which is fantastic to see. Flat Rock’s production of J.C. Superstar is an absolute hit, and Asheville’s Buncombe Commissioners are having some interesting discussions. Weaverville also hosted the InterBeing Festival, a beautiful celebration of community. On top of that, Asheville just saw the launch of a new Theater Alliance, promising exciting times ahead for local theater. And if you’re into craft cocktails, the after/glow seasonal celebration is the place to be. Hope you find something that piques your interest!

After/glow, the café and bar at The Radical Hotel in Asheville, offers an innovative cocktail experience with seasonal drinks crafted by Bar Manager Anderson Riddle, focusing on local ingredients and sustainable practices in a vibrant atmosphere. Join the InterBeing Festival on October 5, 2024, at Samasati Sanctuary in Weaverville, NC, for a heartfelt gathering focused on community resilience amidst change, featuring workshops, performances from artists like Alexander Caruso and Billy Jonas, and fundraising for local nonprofit Beloved Asheville. Buncombe County recently made a list of sanctuary counties due to policies on criminal illegal immigrants that seem to circumvent NC law. One of those criminals took “Indecent liberties with a minor" on an eleven-year-old girl and was out the next day. The Buncombe County Commissioners were put in the awkward position of weighing in on whether or not the county's insurance plan should continue to cover GLP-1s. USI, a health insurance consultant retained by the county, said that beyond the instant gratification and celebrity hoopla is a ridiculously overpriced and high-risk drug. They said the county already had half a dozen equally effective weight loss drugs in its formulary that cost less than 10% and did not come with as many adverse side effects.
