The first fireworks of the evening on First Night Pittsburgh, Dec. 31, 2023.

Are you ready for 2025? This year flew by and somehow, Dec. 31 is upon us again. If you don’t want to stay home and First Night in Downtown Pittsburgh doesn’t seem appealing, there are lots of other events to attend. Here’s a sampling from around the region.

City Works New Year’s Eve Bash 2025

For a classic all-out 21+ party, head to City Works in Downtown Pittsburgh for their New Year’s Eve Bash. Ring in 2025 with delicious passed hors d’oeuvres (including brisket crostini, margherita flatbread and peanut butter Snickers shooters) and two drink tickets included with your admission.

There will also be a champagne toast at midnight and tunes to keep you dancing the year away. They’ll even have a 360 photo booth so you can record the last memories of 2024. The party goes from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Hard Rock Cafe New Year’s Eve Party

Moving onto a new year can evoke nostalgia for the past — and Hard Rock Cafe on the South Side is really throwing it back for their final Pittsburgh New Year’s party. Celebrate the best of the 1990s with tunes spun by DJ Biggie Falls and live music from Saved By The ’90s.

There will also be ’90s-themed party favors, and when it’s time to welcome the new year, a balloon drop to celebrate. And, of course, the complimentary champagne toast.

The 21+ shindig begins at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.). Learn more at cafe.hardrock.com/pittsburgh.

Countdown to Noon at the Children’s Museum

There’s nothing wrong with being an early sleeper — and the kids deserve to party, too. So head to the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh on Pittsburgh’s North Side to count down to noon instead of midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Included with admission to the museum, the event boasts live music by Lee Robinson and ISKA before the clock strikes noon. Throughout the museum, there’s a variety of activities, including party hat-making, a “silent disco” and more.

This event will last from 10 a.m. to noon. Learn more at pittsburghkids.org.

Non-Alc NYE at Two Frays Brewery

Not everyone wants the boozy champagne toast when the ball drops, and a pressure-free no-alcohol environment is a great place for those who don’t choose to partake. This year, The Open Road and Teetotal Initiative are pairing with Two Frays Brewery in Garfield to throw a boozeless New Year’s bash.

This free-admission event will have food and plenty of non-alcoholic drink options, including a NA champagne toast at midnight. There will be music all night long, a photo booth, “flash bingo” and non-alc beer and signature mocktails.

No RSVP is necessary, and the event goes from 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. See the details at teetotal.org.

New Year’s Eve Slumber Party

Prefer cozy to rowdy? There’s a celebration for you, too. Glitterbox Theater in Homestead is hosting a New Year’s Eve slumber party from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 8 a.m. Wednesday. You’re welcome to bring a sleeping bag and snuggle in for the night, or head home whenever you like. This event is ideal for those aged 14 or older.

There will be hairstyling, makeup and nail painting, as well as movies, music, dancing, a bonfire and so much more. Plus, tons of crafting — feel free to bring an item of clothing to decorate!
