Tom Holland and Zendaya confirm engagement rumors
After bringing the romance of Peter Parker and Mary Jane to the big screen, “Spider-Man” co-stars Tom Holland and Zendaya are engaged after three years of dating.
TMZ first reported the couple’s engagement on Monday. The media outlet stated that a source shared that Holland proposed to the “Euphoria” and “Dune: Part 2″ actress during the holidays. The proposal was “very intimate” and not “over the top” and was done in one of Zendaya’s family homes, the site said.
A separate source revealed to People that Holland knew he had wanted to propose for quite some time.
“He’s always been crazy about her. He always knew she was the one. They have something very special,” the source said. The outlet also shared that Holland broke the news to friends around New Year’s.
Rumors of the engagement emerged very recently. This past Sunday, according to LA Times Reporter Amy Kaufman, Zendaya walked the 2025 Golden Globes Awards red carpet and was spotted with a “massive ring” on her left hand.
When asked by the same reporter if she was engaged, the actress reportedly “flashed her ring, smiled coyly, and shrugged her shoulders.”
Zendaya and Holland have not directly addressed the engagement questions. The “Challengers” actress is not very active on social media, and Holland’s last post was on Christmas Day.
A wedding date will not be set for a while. The couple is working on new projects and does not plan to rush into anything.
“They will just enjoy things for now and won’t rush a wedding,” the source said. “They are both busy with work projects.”
The actors, both 28, first worked together in the 2017 film “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” In it, Holland starred as the web-slinging superhero Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and Zendaya played Parker’s love interest/classmate, Michelle “MJ Jones.”
In the 2019 sequel, “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” the on-screen romance amplified as the pair shared their first on-screen kiss.
Since then, the couple has kept most of the details about their relationship private, as Holland made clear he would prefer in a 2021 interview with GQ.
“One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world,” he said. “I’ve always been really adamant to keep my private life private because I share so much of my life with the world anyway.”
“We sort of felt robbed of our privacy,” he added.
