Graduate Advising
Masters students are advised by one of the core faculty members who helps them fashion a coherent plan of study that combines training in translation, the source literature and culture, and critical translation theory.
At the end of the first year, each student forms an advisory committee of two faculty members: one from the translation program, who is the student's primary advisor; and one from a department in the Division of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures or from one of the M.F.A. writing programs.
At least a third member joins the committee during the fall semester of the second year, when students form their Thesis Committee and submit their thesis proposal. At least one member of the committee should be competent in the student’s source language.
