Okina is the Adoptive Grandfather of Princess Kaguya, He was an ordinary bamboo cutter, but turned rich because he of the blessing he received by adopting Kaguya.
Personality[]
He is a caring grandfather who loves his family. He is also hardworking, having taken care of his wife even though he was barely making any money, and yet his selflessness made him adopt Kaguya.
Plot[]
The Baby In The Shoots[]
Once upon a time, 1400 years from the present day, Okina was walking through the woods harvesting bamboo to live by. He noticed a bamboo tree glowing bright. He decided to cut open the tree, only to find a baby, the size of a thumb. He had thought that the heavens had sent him a child, because he himself never got to have one, and so he took the infant in his arms and took her to his house.
There he and his wife took in the infant and took care of her. This act had granted him the blessing of wealth and fortune, which soon turned him rich.
A Grown Kaguya[]
Kaguya aged to an adult really fast, within a month she grew to have a physique of a young adult. Okina's wealth made him rich enough to move to the capital, into a mansion.
Trivia[]
- He was granted a blessing from the gods for adopting Kaguya as his own child. which, made him rich enough to afford a mansion.
- He does not wish for Kaguya to get married off, but can't stop it as he is not a noble himself. He wishes for her to marry someone she loves.
- On the day Kaguya left, she blessed his wife to have a daughter, who is "as beautiful as a white egret", all we know about her is her name - Hachiyo.
