Tomb Raider doesn't use traditional keys as previous timelines did. It instead opts for having items that must be given to characters, or brought to a certain location for the story to continue. With the exception of the Axe which is used to pry open doors, and the shotgun and grenade launcher which can destroy wooden and steel barriers respectively, to allow access to blocked areas.
