The Traitors (Australia) is the Australian edition of the global franchise The Traitors. It is the first English edition of the show to launch, and the sixth overall globally. It has aired two full seasons as of September 10, 2023.
History[]
Network 10's development of The Traitors for Australia was announced on February 2, 2022,[1] and Rodger Corser announced as its host on May 25, 2022.[2] Filming was known to take place at The Robertson Hotel sometime around July 2022.[3]
The pilot episode aired on Network 10 on October 16, 2022. Despite being critically well-received, the show struggled to find an audience.[4] However, the success of the British and American franchises spawned renewed interest in the show. A casting call was announced before the show was officially renewed on January 20, 2023,[5] and on January 30, 2023, Senior Vice President (Content and Programming) for Paramount ANZ Daniel Monaghan confirmed that Network 10 was actively evaluating the show's future potential.[6]
A renewal was officially announced on April 28, 2023.[7]
On October 27, 2023, Network 10 confirmed to TV Tonight that the show would not be receiving another season in 2024, effectively cancelling it, although the network left the door open to the show returning sometime in the future without a specific commitment.[8]
