AMD unveils new chips for various devices

AMD has unveiled a new roster of chips for laptops, desktops, and gaming handhelds at CES 2025. The company says the 9950X3D, which is designed for gamers and creators, is 8% faster on average in popular games like Starfield compared to AMD’s 7950X3D.

To power the next generation of Copilot+ PCs, AMD is also launching new and refreshed processor series: the Ryzen AI 300 series and Ryzen AI Max series — which are set to launch by Q2 2025.

In addition, AMD announced new processors in its Ryzen Z2 series, which is meant for lightweight and gaming-focused form factors like Valve’s Steam Deck. Those processors will be available in Q1 2025, the company says.
