Gowappa 5 Gōdam (ゴワッパー5ゴーダム Gowappā Faibu Gōdamu) is a Japanese mecha anime series produced by Tatsunoko Productions as the second installment to Takara's Magne-Robo Franchise. It premiered on ABC and ran from April 4 to December 29, 1976 for 36 episodes, switching to NET (now TV Asahi) for episodes 24-26.
Due to its ratings trouble, which necessitated in that attempt to move networks and time-slots for the series to recover, the show was cut short at 36 episodes out of a planned 52. However, the staff still managed to bring the plot to a concrete ending, in comparison to other shows that were cut short like Tekkaman the Space Knight.

Trivia[]
- Gowapper is a portmanteau of the words 5 + "こわっぱ (小童)", which is Japanese for "boy, child, youth, brat".
- As seen in the LD-BOX for the series, the original title was GoGo Gowapper (GoGo ゴワッパー). It was also pitched as more of a child-geared version of Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, with Godam being a later-added element to the pitch when sponsors requested a giant robot. Some early broadcast scripts show that the title had shifted to Naughty Rangers Godam (わんぱくレンジャーゴーダム), before the finalized title was decided.
