BELGRADE, December 30. /TASS/. Current Croatian President Zoran Milanovic is leading in the country’s presidential election held on Sunday with 49.2% of the vote, the Croatian State Electoral Commission said after processing 98.65% of ballots.
His main political rival, independent candidate Dragan Primorac, is in second place with 19.43% of the vote. Other candidates have garnered 9% of the vote or less.
Voting in the Croatian presidential election closed at 7 p.m. local time (6 p.m. GMT) and the count is underway. According to the commission, the voter turnout was at 45.99%.
The other six candidates include Miro Bulj, mayor of the city of Sinj who represents the Bridge party, Ivana Kekin, leader of the We Can! party, Branka Lozo, deputy chairperson of the DOMiNO party, and three more independent candidates, Marija Selak Raspudic, Tomislav Jonjic and Niko Tokic.
