Publish or disconnect episodes from an RSS feed on YouTube

If you’re a podcast creator, you can use YouTube Studio to upload your podcasts to YouTube through an RSS feed. Follow the steps below to publish or disconnect an RSS feed. You can also learn more about uploading podcasts from RSS feeds to YouTube.

How to Upload Audio-first Podcasts to YouTube with RSS Feeds

Connect your RSS feed to upload podcasts to YouTube

Before you begin, log in to YouTube Studio. Then, follow the steps below to upload podcast episodes from your RSS feed to YouTube.

Submitting an RSS feed on YouTube

1. In YouTube Studio, click Create  and then New podcast and then Submit RSS feed .

Note: If you don’t have advanced feature access, you’ll need to verify your identity.

2. Read and accept the RSS Ingestion Tool Terms of Service. 

3. Read the instructions on screen and click Next.

4. Enter your RSS feed URL and click Next.

5. Click Send code to verify your account. 

6. Enter the verification code sent to the email address on your RSS feed and click Verify. If you don't know the email on your RSS feed, contact your hosting provider.

7. Choose which episodes you want to upload to your podcast on YouTube and click Next. You can choose to upload:

  • All existing episodes
  • Episodes published since a specific date
  • Only future episodes
If your episodes contain paid promotions, you should also select the option “Most of the episodes from the RSS feed contain paid promotion.” Learn more about best practices for RSS feeds on YouTube.

8. Review visibility details and click Save.

Publish podcasts from your RSS feed

After you set up your feed, it may take a few days for your episodes to upload. You'll get an email when your podcast is ready to be published, however, your podcast will not be published until you follow the steps below. 

To publish a feed,

  1. In YouTube Studio, go to Content and then Podcasts.
  2. Under “Video count,” click Publish next to your podcast feed. This button will only appear when your podcast episodes have finished uploading. 

After you publish, your podcast and any new episodes will become public to anyone on YouTube. You can change these settings on the Podcast details page. Learn how to edit your default video visibility in the next section.

Edit podcast details

If the podcast details delivered in your RSS feed are missing or incorrect, you can edit them from the Podcast details page.

1. In YouTube Studio, go to Content and then Podcasts.
2. Hover over the podcast you’d like to edit and select Details Edit setting, pencil icon.
3. On the Podcast details page, update any of the following settings:

  • Titles
  • Descriptions
  • Video visibility
  • Default video order
  • RSS settings

4. Click Save when complete.

Note: Episode details automatically update from your RSS feed. If your episode details change, you can edit them within your RSS feed. If you change episode details in YouTube Studio, we’ll block future edits to that episode made within your RSS feed.

Disconnect an RSS feed from your YouTube podcast

Disconnecting your RSS feed from your podcast on YouTube will stop new episodes from being uploaded. 

  1. In YouTube Studio, go to Content and then Podcasts.
  2. Hover over the podcast you’d like to edit and select Details Edit setting, pencil icon.
  3. From the Podcast details page, find your RSS feed link and click Disconnect.
  4. Confirm that you’d like to disconnect the RSS feed from your channel.

Re-upload an episode

If you want to update an audio file through your RSS feed, follow the steps below to re-upload your video.

  1. In YouTube Studio, go to Content and then Podcasts.
  2. Hover over the podcast you’d like to edit and select Videos .
  3. Hover over the video you’d like to re-ingest and click the menu .
  4. Select Re-upload from RSS feed
