To get started with Google Wallet, download and set up the app.
What you need
- To use the app, you must have a valid Google Account, subject to these age restrictions per country or region. Some features within Google Wallet may have specific age requirements.
- Users need Android 9 to download and use the app. Learn how to update your Android version.
- Up to date Google Play Services and Google Wallet app.
Tips:
- The Google Wallet app wonât work on a rooted device.
- Google Wallet also doesn't support work profiles.
- If you have a work profile on your Android device, you must use your personal profile with Google Wallet.
Get the Google Wallet app
From the Play Store, download the Google Wallet app.
Set up Google Wallet
- Open the Google Wallet app .
- Follow the setup instructions.
- If youâre new to Google Wallet, youâre asked to add a card the first time you open the app. You can use your camera to scan a debit or credit card or enter the details manually.
- If you previously added cards, tickets, or passes to your wallet with Google Pay, they should appear in your Google Wallet.
- You may be asked to set up a screen lock on your Android device.
- To make contactless payments, make sure your phone meets software standards, has NFC, NFC is turned on, and Google Pay is set as the default payment app.
