You can ask Gemini Apps to create, find, and edit your events in Google Calendar and Samsung Calendar.

Important:

  • The features related to calendars aren’t available in Gemini in Google Messages.
  • These features are currently being released in all languages supported by Gemini Apps. The release is gradual, so it might not be available to you just yet.
  • Gemini Apps can hallucinate responses or provide outdated information. To check the information, click and review the sources listed after the response.

Use Google Calendar in Gemini Apps

To create and manage your Google Calendar events, you'll need to connect Google Workspace to Gemini Apps.

  1. Go to gemini.google.com.
  2. Make sure you’re signed in to the same account you use with Google Workspace.
    • Important: Gemini Apps can only manage events for the default calendar of this account.
  3. Ask the Gemini app to create or show an event from Google Calendar.
    • Tip: To tell Gemini Apps to specifically use Google Calendar, add @Google Calendar to your prompt.
  4. If you haven’t connected Google Workspace, you’ll get the option to connect it.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Tip: You can also turn Google Workspace on or off in your Extensions settings.

What Gemini Apps can’t do

Gemini Apps can’t perform certain actions in your calendar for you, like:

  • Add or invite people to events
  • Add or update the location or description of an existing event
  • Create, ask for, or manage events that aren’t in your default calendar

Tip: You can always edit your calendars and event details, like guests, location, and description, in your calendar app, like Google Calendar.

Create a calendar event

Create an event by giving specific details
  • Create an event for [time] on [day, date] to [activity, task].
  • Create an event for [event description] at [time] on [day, date], add a description saying [event details].
  • Add [event name] to my calendar on [day] at [time] and add a description saying [reminder, details].
Create an event based on your conversation
  • Show me the email that [sender name] sent about [event, activity].
After Gemini's response: Add the event to my calendar.
  • <Take a photo of a concert flyer with dates and locations> Check my calendar and see if I’m free for the concert in [location] this year.
  • Create an itinerary for a 1-day trip in San Francisco with times.
After Gemini's response: Add them to my calendar
  • <Copy and paste event details from a doc or Gmail> Add these to my calendar.

Tips:

  • To add an event, you can include “Add this to my calendar” or “@Google Calendar add this event” in your prompt.

After Gemini's response: The event is actually on [new day]. Can you change that?
  • Reschedule [event name, event description] on [day] to [new day] [new time].
  • On my calendar, can you change the name of [event name] to [new event name].

Tip: To help Gemini Apps understand that you want to update an event, add “event” or “calendar” to your prompt.

Cancel your calendar events
  • Cancel my next meeting with [name].
  • [Event name, event description] on [day] was canceled. Remove it from my calendar.

How extensions work in Gemini Apps

  • Gemini Apps only use extensions that are on in your Extensions settings. This includes extensions you turn on when you specify them in your prompt with an "@" mention.
  • Gemini Apps check for extensions that can help it generate a more helpful response. If a Gemini app finds an extension that can help, it automatically sends information from your conversation and other relevant information to that extension. For example, Gemini Apps will send your location data to Google Maps if you ask for coffee shops near you and the Google Maps extension is on.
  • Gemini Apps won’t access your personal content in other services without your permission. Some Gemini Extensions are designed to automatically work with tools, apps, and content on your device to help you seamlessly interact with it.
  • If you directly interact with another Google service in Gemini Apps, your activity might be saved by that other service. For example, if you watch a YouTube video in a Gemini app, YouTube may:
  • Gemini Apps can use extensions to help you connect with third-party apps and services. When they do, Gemini Apps share information with those apps and services to fulfill your requests. That information is then used by those third-party apps and services according to their own developers' privacy policies.
  • If you turn off the YouTube extension, you can still talk Live about a video you’re viewing in the YouTube app.
