Trackers and watches

We recommend that you occasionally:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device to ensure they stay bronze or gold in color:
    1. Use a toothbrush with freshwater. Dry with a cloth or tissue before charging.
    2. Make sure not to scrape the contacts with anything metal, since metal can damage the plating and cause corrosion.
  • Clean the pins on your charging cable:
    1. Clean the pins carefully with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol.
    2. Make sure that no pieces of the swab are left behind.
Fitbit devices that count floors have a small hole (altimeter sensor) on the back of the device. Don’t insert any items, such as paper clips, into this hole as you can damage your device.

For additional cleaning instructions, see our Wear and Care page.

Scales

Clean your scale as needed to remove dust and soil. To clean your scale:

  • Wipe down the surface with a damp cloth using a mild detergent before your first use.
  • Do not submerge your scale or use high-pressure water jets (like a shower head) to clean the surface.
  • Do not use antiseptic wipes, chlorine, or highly concentrated glass cleaner on the surface of the scale.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners to clean your scale.
Headphones

We recommend that you occasionally:

  • Remove the ear tips and wings or fins from Fitbit Flyer and wash them with water or a wet cloth. Allow them to dry completely before reattaching them to the headphones.
  • Clean the headphones with a soft, damp cloth. Use water only. The headphones are designed to be rain, sweat, and splash-proof, but shouldn’t be submerged in water.
