You can update your page size and margins, or change the page orientation of your Google Doc.
Important: These features aren't available in documents that are in pageless format. To use these features, make sure your document is in pages format.
Change page setup of a Google Doc
- On your computer, open a document in Google Docs.
- In the toolbar, click File Page setup.
- At the top of the dialog window, select Pages.
- Go to the setting you want to change:
- Orientation
- Paper size
- Margins
- Page color
- Tip: If you are in pageless format, you can update the background color.
- Make your changes.
- Click OK.
- Tip: You can click Set as default to apply these settings to any new documents you create.
Mix page orientations in a single Google Doc
A single document can include a mix of portrait and landscape layouts, to better fit wider tables, charts and graphics.
Change the orientation of a selection- On your computer, open a document in Google Docs.
- Highlight the text or image that you want to change the orientation Right click on the text or image.
- Select Change page to landscape or Change page to portrait.
- On your computer, open a document in Google Docs.
- Click where you want to create multiple sections.
- Go to Insert Break Section break.
- To change the orientation of a section, click File Page setup or Format Page orientation.
- Set âApply toâ to âThis sectionâ if you would like to apply the page orientation to the selected section only. Use âThis section forwardâ if you would like to apply the page orientation to this and all subsequent sections.
- Select the orientation to apply.
- Click OK
Tips:
- To show where section breaks are in your document, click View Show section breaks.
- To show page outlines, click View Show print layout.
- You can also change the orientation for the entire document. Click File Page setup Apply to: Whole document.
