You can ask Google Assistant on your speaker, Smart Display, Smart Clock, or car to play radio stations by name or location.
- Say "Hey Google" or press the button to talk to Assistant.
- Say a command.
Try these commands
Play
- Station name: âPlay ESPN Radio.â âPlay Mega 97.9 FM.â âPlay Mega 97.9 on iHeartRadio.â
- Frequency: âPlay 98.5.â
- Call sign: âPlay KQED.â âPlay KFOG.â
- Location: âPlay Z100 in New York.â
- Nearby NPR station: âPlay NPR.â
- Find info: âWhatâs playing?â
Control what's playing
- To pause or stop:
- âPause.â
- âStop.â
- âStop the radio.â
- To resume:
- â Resume.â
- âContinue playing.â
Change the volume
You can set the volume to a specific level (1â10) or percent (1â100%).
- Increase: âTurn it up.â (Increases volume by 10%).
- Decrease: âTurn it down.â (Decreases volume by 10%).
- Set a level: âVolume 5.â
- Set a percentage: âVolume to 65%.â

Control the radio in your car
With Assistant built-in, you can listen to the car radio or a radio app, like iHeartRadio.
For example, if you say:
- âHey Google, play 102.7,â Assistant will play that station on the car radio.
- âHey Google, play 102.7 on iHeartRadio,â Assistant will play that station from your streaming app.
Tip: Ask Assistant to play a radio frequency, not a station name or call sign.
Control radio from the Google Home app
If you use Assistant on a speaker, Smart Display, or Smart Clock, you can change the volume in the Google Home app.
- On your phone or tablet, open the Google Home app .
- At the bottom, tap Home .
- Tap your device Change the volume.
