Would the Destruction of Malachor V be the previous battle? See Category:Battles of the Great War. There were several key battles before the Sacking of Coruscant. --Danik Kreldin 20:10, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

  • What? That's not even part of the same conflict. VT-16 20:11, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
    • On the battle template, it has Destruction of Malachor V being the previous battle. I didn't do it. --Danik Kreldin 20:13, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
      • Ah, I thought you were in favor of it. Sorry, misread. VT-16 20:45, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Time frame[]

The time frame of both this and the Treaty of Coruscant is actually incorrect, though it might not be possible to attain better accuracy until more information comes out. The game is said to take place about 300 years after KotOR (meaning the first computer game, I assume), which would put it around 3656 BBY. Exactly the year put here. However, the description of the setting on the official site also says the following:

"In the years since the treaty, fear and uncertainty have gripped the galaxy, enabling the Sith Emperor to pursue his own mysterious purposes while the Republic has made efforts to rebuild its infrastructure and adjust military priorities to the new galactic landscape."

Thus it naturally follows that both the sacking of Coruscant and the signing of the Treaty took place years before the game plot begins circa 3656 BBY. Jediphile 18:10, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

I agree with you there, also should we use the comic to help expnad this atricle? The first issues look like they are going to focus on the sacking.--Ant rocks 09 06:25, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

comics[]

I believe we should expand this atricle by using the information in the comics to be released by Dark Horse as the first issues look like the focus on this conflict. I'd like to know wha the people think befor I just starting adding to the article and watch as it gets reverted. Here is what I want to post:

The battle[]

While Imperials and Republic officals acompanied by members of the Jedi Order were discussing a treaty on Alderaan the Sith Empire had many vessels go to Coruscant. One ship commanded by Lord Angral approached an Orbital Security Station. When an Admiral asked the lord how they should respond to the Security Station the Sith Lord replied "Fire away"

I'll add more as more info is released.--Ant rocks 09 06:40, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Trailer[]

The most recent trailer [1] depicts the Sacking of Coruscant in a way different than the Comic, with more Jedi deaths. And the Sith infiltrating the Jedi Temple via a stolen gunship before the sacking begins. Shouldn't this be included in the article? --Kahn Iceay 02:20, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Concurrent conflicts[]

Are these links really placed approprietly? Both the Duel outside the Senate and the Invasion of the Jedi Temple are integral elements of the sacking of Coruscant, rather then separate conflicts... Gorthuar 08:59, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

  • I also agree. I wonder where actually Supreme Chancellor died, when not during the sacking of Coruscant. VolteMetalic 18:32, June 20, 2010 (UTC)

Temple Security Force[]

i think thay we should add the Temple Security Force to the list of repbulic units in the battle you can see Maguls kill three of them out side of the Temple in the tralier.--Venom assult trooper (talk) 23:18, July 23, 2012 (UTC)

Update[]

Reasons for update:

  • From the Imperial space combat mission "Clouds of Vondoru":
    • The Intercessor is the pride of the Republic fleet. The capital ship defended Bothawui and survived the Battle of Hoth; now we will destroy it. Less than one hour ago, the Imperial fleet ambushed the Intercessor in the skies above Vondoru. Republic reinforcements have already responded to defend their vessel. Only the Empire's Fury squadron can ensure the Intercessor's complete destruction. Rally at the planet Vondoru in the Unknown Regions and blow the capital ship out of the sky.
  • From the Republic space combat mission "Zosha Advance":
    • The Imperial dreadnaught Scream of Ragnos is rallying its escort for a major attack in Republic territory. The Scream of Ragnos is the flagship of Sith Lord Javis Koldor. His dreadnaught led assaults in the Sacking of Coruscant and claimed countless Republic lives. We must destroy this threat and symbol of Imperial might. Join the battle above the planet Zosha in the Unknown Regions and permanently retire the Scream of Ragnos.
  • From the Balmorra Imperial mission "Toxic Bombs":
    • By order of Darth Lachris, revered governor of Imperial Balmorra, champion of the siege of Coruscant. Due to the previous governor's incompetence, the resistance has managed to establish a factory for the production of chemical weapons near the toxic waste pools.

So. A Harrower-class named the Scream of Ragnos commanded by Javis Koldor, a Valor-class named the Intercessor, and Darth Lachris was part of the siege. Cade Calrayn GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit 19:46, September 3, 2012 (UTC)

Casualty Count[]

Okay, how could the casualties really be kept at tens of thousands?

The description of the attack seems indiscriminate, large-scale, intended to destroy and kill as much of the planet as possible without going into Taris-territory, sending droids to hunt down civilians fleeing the destruction, massive plasma-fireballs, and more.

If you are as generous as possible, and place the death toll at 99,999 people, and say that Cor's population is half that of the normal number quoted for the planet (500 Billion instead of 1 trillion), then the sacking of Coruscant killed... .00002% of the planet's population.

For comparison, the highest murder rate in the US in the last while (1980) was .000029% per day... which is a higher death toll than a planetary bombardment of a city-planet, apparently.

My guess is either this is the misinterpretation of a line from a book (aka 10,000's of deaths in one incident, which would be more understandable), or the writer didn't do the math. {{UTC|74.201.18.27}}
