"Sparks" was the nickname Gold Squadron pilot Dex Tiree gave to his R5 astromech droid. It was named after a saying Dex's mother said often, "Small sparks light big fires."^[2] In 0 BBY,^[1] Sparks and Dex perished in the Battle of Yavin.^[2]
