Red 16 was a callsign in the Rebel Alliance starfighter squadron Red Squadron which was active during the Imperial Era.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Red 16 was mentioned in Star Wars Super Graphic: A Visual Guide to a Galaxy Far, Far Away, a book by Tim Leong[1] that was published on July 25, 2017.[2] Star Wars Super Graphic states that Red 16 fought in the Battle of Yavin,[1] but the short story "Duty Roster," written by Jason Fry and published in the From a Certain Point of View anthology[3] on October 3 of the same year[4] establishes that only twelve pilots of Red Squadron participated in the battle.[3] This article assumes that "Duty Roster," as a newer source, is correct.
