Behind the scenes

Red 16 was mentioned in Star Wars Super Graphic: A Visual Guide to a Galaxy Far, Far Away, a book by Tim Leong that was published on July 25, 2017. Star Wars Super Graphic states that Red 16 fought in the Battle of Yavin, but the short story "Duty Roster," written by Jason Fry and published in the From a Certain Point of View anthology on October 3 of the same year establishes that only twelve pilots of Red Squadron participated in the battle. This article assumes that "Duty Roster," as a newer source, is correct.
